Charlottesville white nationalists riots

I am in line with political correctness caused 3 people to die needlessly. Why could they not leave a statue that has been in place for 100 years? Who was hurt as badly by the blocks of granite in the last 100 years as those by the car or the helicopter crash. The blood is on your hands and people like you.

The blood is on the hands of the freaking Nazi that drove into a crowd at 40 MPH. I can't believe people are trying to argue otherwise, and it's hard to understand why.

I mentioned in an earlier post that they have every right to protest. I'm not trying to suggest removing that. That is a dangerous road to go down.

But counter-protests are also protected speech, and warranted in my opinion. These people should be publicly shamed at every opportunity.

How is. A counter protest shaming this idiotic group? They want the attention.... why do you think they look and act the way that they do....

Looks like a lot of you are in line with the white nationalist ideology otherwise the only appropriate response is f*** them.

Has nothing to do with their ideology. Have you ever even seen the Constitution? Have you read it? Do you understand the rights given to American citizens? I hate the ideas white nationalists espouse. I hate the BLM movement as well. None of these groups actually promote equality and the setting aside of skin color as some kind of standard. The color of one's skin shouldn't mean anything. Actions and character are what define a person. That said, back to my original point, as much as I despise these messages of hate, from both sides, I recognize they legally have the right to spew their hatred and bile. I have the right to denounce their beliefs as idiocy. I do not have the right to lay hands upon them because we disagree.

Not denying counter-protest is free speech, BUT, did the counter-protesters go through legal channels and get a permit to stage said counter-protest?

I don't know where or when Antifa has shown up, but I know for a fact that BLM has shown up all over the place without being violent. You're the one that lumped them together, which itself is ignorant.

If your conspiracy theory is true, and Antifa is that violent, then there should have been a very real possibility that the only deaths that occurred would be neo-Nazis killed by Antifa, in which case said "agenda" would be hurt rather than helped. How do bureaucrats predict which side ends up with deaths?

So you're saying BLM has shown up and had a peaceful unopposed demonstrations. Yet the party of tolerance and love and free speech can't let a group with a different agenda show up and do the same. Why not?

The concept of free speech is that a person or group of people can deliver a message. It is supposed to work for all. Are people like the counter demonstrators simply too afraid of their own message and insecure in their own position to let someone else speak? Or are they just totally hypocritically intolerant while accusing others of intolerance?

This all assumes that the protestors showed up with sticks, shields and riot gear to protest peacefully, and the counter-protestors started all of the violence. I don't think that's really based on anything but your own opinion.

Counter-protestors have the right to their own speech condemning Nazism, do they not?

No. He's a Moran.

More:

Brian Moran, Virginia’s secretary of public safety and homeland security, was watching the events from a command post on the sixth floor of a Wells Fargo bank on the downtown mall. There were sporadic fights. “I compare it to hockey,” he said. “Often in hockey there are sporadic fights, and then they separate.”

This mother****er literally was perched up in a building watching this **** like he was in the skybox watching a sporting event. Even compared it to hockey!

And for his own viewing pleasure, the police were told to stand down, just like hockey refs stand back and let the two sides go at it.

Seriously, what the ****?!?

There's a time and place for everything. One group had a permit; the other didn't. It was simply not their time or place to show up.

I don't suppose you ever heard "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"? That's all about free speech - not quashing the words of someone with whom you disagree.

I would agree with you. The fact you have no problem with what the other side did is very telling of you.

I say **** all of them.

But I guess that's the difference between you and I. I hold both sides responsible.

I'm ashamed to admit that I identified as a White Nationalist in my youth. Now I just want them to say out of my back yard. If they weren't here the others wouldn't be either.

The appropriate response is f both sides. All they're trying to tell you is unlike what CNN and MSNBC is trying to tell you, there's a lot of blame on both sides.

Antifa have been throwing balloons full of urine and feces at people. They have assaulted multiple people at various events. They're just as much to blame as the white nationalists.

Dont think you'll find many here except lefties who hate the constitution and want a centralized government to control every aspect of their lives..

Theoretically, ANTIFAcist(anti-fascist).

What that means is that they decide who the fascists are , and try to disrupt their agenda. Right now, Trump is the fascist, and they are doing the Lord's(or Soros") work.

Dynalo was insinuating state and local officials had an agenda. I was asking her what their agenda was, not antifa's.....that one is pretty self evident.

The left has to love this. Terrorism and it wasn't Islam! I can see LG getting up in the morning and be like:

Righties are no different, they just want the government to control different aspects of life. We've been having this debate since the 1780s, and it will go on forever. And that is how it should be.

Perhaps because the people that lived there didn't want the statue. Then a bunch of thugs got bussed into town to peddle hate, create a scene and fulfill Trump's campaign promises.

I don't think keeping babies from having their brains sucked out is controlling aspects of life.

I don't remember trump asking people to run people over

I was talking about the position taken by the protesters, David Duke made a nice little sound bite.

As for Trump, he made the same mistake that Obama made with some of the BLM protests. He tried to reach out to all sides. As an aside, if I were Trump and someone tried to hijack my message... I would come out and condemn those hijack attempts very loudly and specifically. He has no problem calling people out. A nice tweet storm railing against David Duke and his ilk, but now he's silent.

Hey LG. lets compare the damage these white racist did to the community verses what your black racists do to a community when they march. I would say the latter destroys more, but you're aren't going to complain because it help push your fascist ideas on this nation.
