What's interesting (sad? predictable?) about this story is that a man who's made a career of mocking and attacking religion only becomes too controversial when he targets one particular religion.

I'm sure no one is surprised by this.

Richard Dawkins has denied using “abusive speech against Islam” after a California radio station cancelled a book event with the scientist, citing his comments on Islam, which it said had “offended and hurt … so many people”.

Dawkins, whose bestselling study of evolution, The Selfish Gene, was named the most influential science book of all time by the Royal Society last week, was lined up to speak about his memoir A Brief Candle in the Dark at an event hosted by Berkeley’s KPFA Radio in August.

A) Religion deserves to be mocked and attacked.

B) It's a single pansy radio station in Berkeley who felt the need to single out his comments on Islam as a reason to cancel. To which he'd most certainly be using rational and reasoned arguments to point out why all religion is sht.

C) He's already rescheduled.

His letter to them pointed out the idiotic flaws in their reason for cancelling.

The idea that I have engaged in abusive speech against Islam is preposterous, which even the most rudimentary fact-checking by KPFA would have made clear,” said Prof. Dawkins. “I have indeed strongly condemned the misogyny, homophobia, and violence of Islamism, of which Muslims — particularly Muslim women — are the prime victims. I make no apologies for denouncing those oppressive cruelties, and I will continue to do so.

I don't understand why every one has to tread lightly around religion, especially Islam. It is not a religion of peace.

Hardcore religious people say and do the most vile things; to hell with being PC about it. #teamdawkins
