Putting a face with a screen name

What's that on yore nose?

Haha. My nose ring. But, Behr and u will be happy to know that I took it out for good right after my 46th birthday this January. I started feeling like one of those old men that are still trying to be cool and they are not. Btw, I believe this pic was took on the day of the UT-Georgia game, after the DB sack and Vereen TD. Obviously, I had no idea of the range of emotions that were about to follow

Here is me standing on top of the "pallet" before I started removing the tin..you didn't study the pic very well or you would have noticed the tin still on the roof over my left shoulder.

bf, where's that general store at? I've done some roofing in my lifetime, mostly shingles and it sucks, especially this time of the year. Are u putting on plywood, felt and shingles next or one of those new colored tin roofs? Either way, my hats off to u, u are doing work.

It's in Hickman county. Not only was it the general store but it was the original county seat, jail, post office, and plow repair shop. Lots of history in that building.

I'm reclaiming the entire building. I take anything of us or value and clean it up for the land owner.

I apologise for my response. It's been a frustrating week. Having issues with a new buyer in another state that I'm trying to expand to and it has me a little on edge. Lol.

This building has been a treasure trove e of old finds. Tin RC cola signs, personal letters going back to the late 1800's, paper advertisments, old wooden shipping boxes, woven Japanese grass mats,a wagon tongue, a fishing Seine with wooden floats, just a ton of stuff. The history of these buildings is why I do this kind of work, fascinated by it. I discovered by reading some of the old letters and shipping/billing statements that peanuts were a huge cash crop in that area back during that time period. Had no clue. I always thought that peanuts needed Sandy soil to grow in.

That ship lap looks great. If that's the original paint be sure to check for lead. A lot of folks forget to do that.
