Peter Burns Twitter - Tennessee Football Stats

My post was making fun of him always bringing up Gruden. Nobody says anything about Gruden until he does. Then it's always him making fun of others bringing up Gruden. Lol. My jig is up the news is out.....

Guess you forgot all about the Gruden Threads from our last coaching search before Butch was hired?

I'm sure there's still some Vol fan out there that believes he'll come here if he's offered.

No one can or should question that very good progress has been made in the Jones era and I think very, very few do. Many of us that are accused of disliking Jones have catalogued all of those things, including the 5 win season to the 9 win seasons, the recruiting, the excitement around the program, the great APR work, the increased revenue, etc, etc. He's done an outstanding job in several areas.

The questions and dislikes many of us have with Butch have to do with poor in game management, losing games that he just shouldn't, low program expectations and a lot of just pure nonsensical comments that, quite honestly, have made him a national laughingstock at times. Still, all of those things are minimialized, marginized and ignored if he starts winning at a high, championship level. I'm 100% hoping that he will, just not 100% hopeful that he can.

What in this post has not been said a dozen times? Several by you.

Why does it keep getting repeated?

You can't win them all. Eventually we're bound to lose to these teams we normally beat every year.

We just beat UF and UGA in the same season. That's progress.

Losing to South Carolina and Vandy trumps beating UF and UGA. We took a step back last season.

I read the first few post and got disgusted with a bunch of you so called Vol fans. Some "fans" will never be satisfied. It is bloody EFFIN ridiculous how sad some of you are. Let the football season get here so you can have something else to b!t€|=| about.

For you I guess.
Maybe in a normal season but to end an 11 yr streak, no.
After 11 years, I made the comments about "just beat Florida", like almost everyone else. The difference, I didn't call 'didn't mean it', the first chance I got.

No, ending the streak that had seen 4 UT coaches, meant more to me.

Season can't get here soon enough. It's not enough we've started the same thread 87 different ways but canabalize each other also

I wish the NEGA's would go NEGA elsewhere else...say jump on the Bama bandwagon with all their current fair-weather fans and mr. perfection coach.

I'm not 100% on Butch be we are definitely heading in the right direction. Yes he's made some bonehead coaching errors and we've had too many key players go down with injuries but, as it has been said: sometimes it's better to stick with the devil you know vs. the one you don't.

I like to think of Saban as the coach that lost to Louisiana-Monroe. First year, true enough, but he still lost to them. Drives Alabama fans absolutely bonkers when you tell them that.

He can't win with you because if he had beat SC and Vandy and lost to UF and UGA you would say the same thing.

You know as well as I do he should have won all four. Stop acting like it had to ONLY be one or the other. Those two losses to SC and Vandy were unacceptable. The Alabama and A&M losses were at least understandable (though the A&M loss was completely on us as well with that many turnovers).

Don't get me wrong CBJ and staff have improved things but I just get the feeling that many UT fans have lowered expectations of where our program should be. Is it nice we have back to back nine win seasons & 3 straight bowl wins? Yes but when is it time to expect more? Year 5, 6, or 7? UT won 5 SEC championships & 1 NATTY between the coaching careers of Majors and Fulmer. I am glad Butch has brought us out of the Kiffin/Dooley depths but it would be nice to see UT take the next step under Butch. Is it too much to ask for one trip to ATL? I will support this team whether they go 3-9 or 12-0.

So you're comparing about 26 years of football to 4? Truth is, until ncaa checks into Bama and helps push Saban aside its going to be tough being in the sec. Butch is doing fine IMO and is on an upward trajectory. Let's just enjoy this ride. He's definitely building a program and given time and support I think he can get it done.

I think the fact that CBJ brought in so many new coaches is saying something about his ability to learn. He's not been a head coach that long, so to see him learn as he goes is a good thing. We'll see if it brings results. I'm hoping so. On another note, if you were ever going to start a thread with just a name. Peter Burns is that name.

It kinda does have to be one or the other in the scenario BOT set up there.

Really should have been 11-1 and closer than 39 points in that one. Guess what?

Really doesn't matter if I Hate Butch and want him fired yesterday either.

Losing to Vandy and SC is unacceptable Butch and I hold you accountable.

Now what?

The school record points and PPG numbers are the epitome of having your mind made up ahead of time and searching for stats that fit your sunshine pumper narrative. The point total was juiced against inferior competition/horrible defenses (55 against Tennessee Tech, 49 against Kentucky, 63 against Missouri). The offense also played badly against some inferior defenses (App St, Ohio, South Carolina). Against quality competition, the offense was either outright bad (Alabama) or wildly inconsistent (Virginia Tech, Florida, Georgia, Texas A&M).

Every other team in CFB gets to count its stats against inferior competition, as well as every Vol team prior to Team 120, but I realize it better suits your nega narrative to attempt to tear down Team 120's offensive stats.
