It's just his personality to be optimistic. There are two primary types of high achievers. Those that want to win badly and those that cannot stand to lose. Butch is the former and they tend to be more optimistic.

He's made the changes to the program that needed made this off season. Problems with S&C - hires Rock. Problems with the secondary development - hires Warren. Problems with the D-line with Strip retiring - hires Hoke. Problems with the O-line development and recruiting - promotes Wells. Z leaves - hires Beard. Debord gets tired of the heat on SEC OC's - promotes Scott. There is nothing there that says he doesn't know what he's doing. Significant upgrades of the staff addressing problem areas.

Talent does and a team with mostly 3,4, and 5* players will have some talent. But one does not have to be a 5* to play D1 football a a high level. Evaluating talent is the most important skill a coach can have. He must also have very good assistant coaches who can recruit that talent and teach them how to improve. I am satisfied that CBJ now has a staff who can recruit and teach.

Vickers called last season a disappointment at media days (he's correct). Is he ignorant?

very true. he mostly gets retweeted onto my TL. Good point though. Its just a toxic place though when it comes to anything UT. Butch cant win with these ppl though man. Even when the guy doesnt do anything wrong it somehow gets flipped into a big joke and everyone just shiits on him for it. Its not a good place. All the same regurgitated stuff. Getting ridiculous at this point.

What did you think all those years we didn't even break .500? Do you want to talk trash about the guy actually fixing the problem or do you want to just go pick another team to complain about because last time I checked butch has repeatedly said the
Expectation is championships. He probably also expected half our fan base to not be completely delusional .
