Agreed. But let's not act like Fuente is setting the world on fire. He hasn't done anything better than Butch. He won his division which is absolute garbage. He also lost to SYRACUSE

FSU was #23 and UNC was unranked lol. And I see how you leave out they also lost to a 4 in Notre Dame team😂 That's a really bad 4 game stretch.

It's like saying Tennessee was a good win in second half of the season.

That's not true at all. Unless I'm messing my weeks up, which I could be.

They lost to ND after VT, so that doesn't really tell where they were when they came into the game, as was your point.

Edit: you were correct on rankings, I was a week off

Yeah, Saban lost to Louisiana Monroe his first year at Alabama. Obviously an indictment of his coaching ability and an omen of things to come.

Wonder where we were ranked after losing 3 of our 4 captains, our MLB, 3 of 4 DT's, back up OLB, corners at different parts of the year, both starting safeties at points of the year, our KR and back up safety as well, all but one offensive lineman at different points of the year, and Jalen Hurd? 🤔

Fuentes also walked in to a pretty good situation. He replaced an all time great coach who was retiring and kept one of the best DC's in the country on staff maintaining continuity. Not surprising he was off to a good start. He is a good coach though. Not sure he is better than Butch though.

Although they exceeded expectations, it definitely wasn't a bad situation. Keeping Foster was a smart move by Fuente.

Memphis, on the other hand, was one of the worst teams in D1.

So on 247 Recruiting rankings alone, basically VT lost 2 games they shouldn't have (GT and Syracuse) and won 4 they shouldnt have (ND, UNC, Pitt and Miami). UT lost 2 they shouldn't have (USCw and Vandy), Beat one they shouldn't have (UGA).

That's not including Injuries or suspended players, Ect

I think the only person to ever suggest that was McGee. (And of course he did). Everyone else just said they thought Fuente was doing a good job.
Followed by Bass going off like someone had complimented Labron James or something :)
"Don't really count those wins because every team he beat was underperforming"
"Being his first year is excuse making!!"

Basically all the things he hates about negavols.

Then we all compared Fuente's first year to Butch's 3rd and 4th like that was a fair comparison proving Fuente is overrated. Now here we are.

It was all a little bizarre to be honest.

First of all, Labron may be great, but Lebron is overrated. Second, almost everything else you said was true, but I did not say that Fuente is overrated. I think he's a good coach, just don't know how good he is and I think it's very premature to say he's better than Butch. We just don't know.
