Why bother? My premise is that I'd be willing to roll the dice, not that I have the pertinent information or influence to make a decision on a replacement.

I could name someone theoretically perfect anyway, and your response would be "Oh he'd never come here."

UF hired McElwain, LSU retained Orgeron, UGA hired a guy who has never been a head coach, USC retained Helton.

The landscape has greatly changed when hiring a coach. Those schools are arguably better jobs now than UT.

Well thats kinda the point isnt it? You want to roll the dice but the dice are loaded. We have a good coach who can be great with on paper, a great staff. Until there is a disaster i have faith in what we have.

That's fine. I'll agree if we ever move past "on paper."

So...
They're still pushing hard to replace Jones with someone they don't know, over our 6 fictional losses, in a season that hasn't happened yet..

Negavols are a trip.

Nah, proud negavol here, but I've got a 10 win season. IF we go 6-6 or 7-5, I'm in big time for the dice roll.

For whatever reason, UGA had their hearts set on Kirby.

Ed O and LSU are like PB and Jelly. Outside of Herman, he was always gonna be their guy.

In the hypothetical that was put out there, yes

I don't see is going 6-6.

SC retained Helton after Darnold became the guy and they led them to a top 5 finish.

LSU didn't fire Miles to "land" their DL coach. Joe Aleeva went the message board route and their version of Gruden wasn't there. If Strong beats Kansas, he looks brilliant. Their back-up plan was either Herman or Fisher. Another message board mainstay, throw money until they stop saying no. :thud:

Sounds like you should spend more time on the 10 win part then.
Seems a better place to fictionalize. Plus, we don't even get to touch the dice, much less roll them. We're just here for the ride.
Hopefully, it's gonna be a fun one this year.

I'm probably in the minority, but I like what LSU did

So then why not discuss it on a quiet July day? I appreciate your advice, but I'm going to disregard it.
