georgia special election vote tomorrow

I agree with everything but this which remains to be seen. I don't think Trump is going to be the type of President who grows on you over time. His base of support is strong. His base of opposition is just as strong. We will also see where the Mueller investigation takes us. He may not find collusion and he may not find obstruction of justice. He will find something.

Is this how you want our political system to work?

There's a reason no one likes a Special Prosecutor - they can find "something" on almost any politician.

The seat has been Republican since, when, the 1970s--formerly occupied by the corrupt Tom Price, who bought and sold health-care stocks while working on health-care legislation. It's also the deep south--enough said. So the GOP has got another wacky Michelle Bachmann type in Congress.

I outlined his campaign in the post above.

I don't think that's a major issue. The bigger problem is that they don't have a centrist portion to their party anymore. That is making it a tough sell to a growing cross section of the electorate. As I outlined above, I think that is one thing they did right in this election, and something they should try and replicate in other moderate/right-of-center districts.
I'll believe it when I see it. They've been sliding left since the 90s.

Not likely to get the centrist focus any time soon. That ground is Clinton (Bill more so) territory and the party is tired of the Clintons. Obama wasn't centrist and the Sanders/Liawatha coalition is far left.

Honestly, the only thing keeping Republicans alive is the fissure in the D party with most parts arguing over just how far left they should be. Few are flying the centrist banner.

Price wasn't insider trading, he was invested in a fund that made trades he wasn't controlling.

Karen Handel is a pro and is no Michelle Bachman.

I wouldn't put your eggs in the Mueller basket.

As for him not becoming more popular, I think that's probably true on a personal level. The problem for Democrats is that anger is fleeting. Additionally, if the economy improves, people will vote their pocketbook over their reservations over his personality.

If I were you, a Democrat, I'd be rooting very hard that Trump and the GOP make the very unwise move of passing healthcare legislation.

that Trump committed obstruction of justice when he sacked Comey--he admitted it himself during a TV interview and then effectively bragged about it to the Russian ambassador. Nothing will come of it because the Republicans do not care about honest or ethics--look at the health care bill that is being written in secret. A scandal. McConnell--Mr. Jowly Face--and other Republicans have claimed that the Democrats did the same thing. Total lie--not even close.

I think they're nuckin futs....the Democratic Party needs to bring in new faces and get rid of pelvis, waters and pocohantas.....people are tired of seeing the same faces and hearing the same voices. They're all full of **** and disconnected with what America wants

I don't think they really want it to pass. I think the 13 Republicans working this just want it out of the way asap. How could they realistically hope this to pass next week when nobody even knows what the hell is in it yet?

...and I disagree that anger and resentment is fleeting. I mean, did you ever watch Fox News during the Obama administration? Anger intensifies when you have such a polarizing force at work. Trump is as polarizing as it gets. His base of opposition isn't going anywhere regardless of the state of the economy.

Nail on the head. There's a real opportunity for Democrats, but they've got to stop out crazying each other to the left with the usual suspects.

Rep. Cheri Bustos is on CNN making a lot of sense for Democrats. Sounds like the 1992 Clinton message.

I didn't say they will, only that they should; especially in districts where it the electorate favors that approach.

It's amazing how quickly the blue dogs became extinct. I'm just old enough to remember when the whole south was filled with them.
