Typical offseason thread here. I love this site and check it every day of my life but don't post often. If I do post, I like to at least feel like I have a good debate or topic to bring to the table... I think this is worthy!

Is it more impressive/unimpressive that Josh Dobbs owned (owned in itself is debatable, but considering he should have beat them his sophomore year, I'll stick with owned) Florida but could never beat Bama OR that Peyton owned Bama but could never beat Florida?

Who we hate more is a debate in itself, but for me, it's Florida. I would argue what Dobbs did against Florida is more impressive than what Peyton did vs Bama. Especially given the powerhouse Bama was during Dobbs' tenure (which is debatable because Florida was such a powerhouse during Peyton's tenure)...

Anyway, thanks for the amusement!

Love Dobbs, but there needs to be a winning record against a team you supposedly own.

Yeah, poor choice of wording by me. For some reason I was thinking he beat them twice (because he should have).

It's still impressive he did what Peyton never could...

To be fair the Florida team Dobbs beat couldn't hold a candle to the ones Peyton lost too and while we're at it those Bama teams Peyton beat would be run off the field by the ones Josh lost too.

Why is this so hard to consider when talking QB's??? Dobbs wasn't out there defending against Derek Henry, and Peyton couldn't stop Danny Weurful...

I will say Josh beating Florida last season was sweeter to me than any Bama team Peyton beat including 1995. I know most here will call me crazy for saying that but I hate Florida more than I ever could even begin to hate Bama. I would gladly lose to Bama every year if it means beating Florida.

As I've said many times on here, my hatred for Florida sometimes becomes irrational. I became a VFL in the early 90s and in my time I've seen us have plenty of success against Bama. Florida on the other hand seems to almost always have our number. Even when we have more talent we find a way to lose to them.

The 95 second half collapse. The 96 35-0 in a blink of an eye. The 97 fumbles. The 99 failed 4 and 2. The 2002 non stop fumbled snaps. I could go on and on.

Florida is Hate. Florida is LOATHING

not poor choice of wording. he owned forida twice. his junior year loss against florida id argue was his best game as a vol. He was easily the most impressive player on the field that day

Lost me at '97 fumbles.

I remember a bad pick 6 in '97 and the birth of 3rd and Chavis.

Don't remember any fumbles.

Who fumbled?

Your last sentence, never understood this line of thinking.

Peyton started/played vs Florida 3 times....as a sophomore at Florida he was outstanding....300+ yards, 2 tds, no turnovers, put 30+ points on the board, we lost because of Jay Graham's fumbles and our horrific defense, gave up a ton of points.

In 96, his junior year, he had a bad first half, in part because he was pressing and forcing some passes to try and keep up with Florida's offense which was, again, steamrolling our defense....they had 35 points by halftime. He put up huge numbers in the second half but couldn't come all the way back.

His senior year at Florida, similar story.

But bottom line is, this ain't golf or bowling....no one player on a football team wins or loses a game

And if you're debating who the better UT qb is historically based on your original question, please stop it....it's Manning by a country mile.

Dobbs has a losing record against florida, he didnt own them.

Could someone please help me understand any logical argument that Dobbs owned Florida?
