Let me be clear about something... The only way Butch Jones gets fired at the end of this year is if he doesn't go bowling. He could win 7-5 or 6-6. Everybody would be pissed but he'd keep his job. Fulmer and Dooley weren't fired until they had less than 6 wins.

Just for reference: This is Jim Donnan's record at Georgia. Replaced him with someone that may or may not have been slightly better.

1996 Georgia 5–6 3–5 T–4th (Eastern)

1999 Georgia 8–4 5–3 3rd (Eastern) W Outback 16 16
2000 Georgia 8–4 5–3 T–2nd (Eastern) W Oahu 17 20

How do you figure, we hired Dooley!

We weren't attracting high level coaches after Fulmer got fired!

You speak of what you do not know!!!:)

And you know that he did?

News flash! We re still not to date.

Kiffin + Dooley = opportunity for Jones level coaches. Especially given the state of the Ath Dept. and Admin.

This is a dumb post!!! Not only is it dumb, but it is destructive to the very football team you profess to love! You know we are recruiting at a very high level right now, and then you make such an idiotic post! How is a post like this going to help? Thread should be deleted!

Nice to see the VN thought police showed up early.

This is a dumb post!!! I can say that because I used to think the exact same thing. Do you know what hurts recruiting? Failure to win and mistakes by coaches whether on or off the field. Criticism from fans only hurts... if it is true. But LONG before a recruit or a family member gets on here to see the criticism... an opposing team recruiter has already drilled the point home.

If a thread or post here has 1% influence on a kid then the other 99% comes down to how the HC performs his job.

Funny, there are people here who insist that fans and these boards have no influence on whether a coach loses his job or not... then you and others argue that it can ruin his recruiting efforts.

How is that different than any other argument?

Maybe because recruits spend time reading fan pages while administrators are typically busy doing other things??? Maybe?

Terrible poll! It took Coach Majors 9 seasons to get UT back into contention! Coach Jones will win the SEC this year, but if he does not he still needs to have more time! He is the best recruiter in the nation and is the right coach to get our Vols back to where they need to be - on top! :good!:

Best recruiter in the nation😂

I would say it depends on what coaches become available, 8 or 9 wins and he could still get fired. Ten wins, he probably buys himself another year.

No way he is fired for 8-9 wins, unless there is a scandal or major off the field issues, it's just not gonna happen!:)
