According to Phil Steele, no Power 5 school returns as many OL starts as Tennessee

Despite the progression of the Volunteer program under head coach Butch Jones, Tennessee is facing a good deal of skepticism this offseason thanks to what many perceive as a lack of returning experience on offense. Anyone saying that clearly isn’t taking into account the returning offensive linemen on Rocky Top.
According to college football expert Phil Steele, no Power 5 team returns more starts on the offensive line heading into the 2017 season than Tennessee with 111 returning starts. Right behind the Vols at No. 3 in the nation and No. 2 among all Power 5 teams is Auburn with 106.

Having a talented and experienced O-Line helps a inexperienced QB cut his teeth. We should have one of the best units in the SEC in 2017 and beyond. Tons of talent in this unit.
Yes. No excuse not to win the East, give Bama good game in ATL, play NYD bowl, finish ranked in top 10, and sign top 5 class in Feb. Probably coaching malpractice not to meet or exceed all of those goals with such a stout OL coming back.

Go ahead and click here,, and your tears will be instantly wiped away. Won't even hurt my feelings or cost me a wink of sleep either champ.:good!:

Do you put a notch in you belt for every time another poster tells you to go jump in a lake due to relentless dedication to negativity?

I don't know if there is a professional term for being great at bugging people, but there should be, so these others could call you that.

So what is the count on how many you have suggested to use the ignore button? Counting threads and individuals.

Meh. If someone can't view one of my posts without vomiting an emotionally charged meltdown onto volnation, then it's better for themselves and everyone else if they exercise some personal responsibility and use the ignore button.

Like I said, I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Having a big strong soldiers ready for war is very important....having a brilliant field commander to educate them and make them attack as a squad in sync is even more important.

Hope these young men have the right one to teach them those skills now.

That was last year. Haven't you heard that with the new strength and conditioning coach we will never have another injury and we will never be pushed off the line again?

I haven't heard that, hope its true tho.

What I have heard, and even said myself is, I'm excited to have him here and I sure hope he improves an area that he was hired for and needed improvement.

When was it determined that this was an area that needed improvement?

The reason I ask is that I recall how fired up this place was last summer with the stories & pics of Hurd, Dobbs, etc.

Was it the App St. game? Was it the number of injuries throughout the season?

Although this stat is just one more piece of information in the overall forecast, there is reason to be optimistic. It's one thing to have 11 returning starters on an offense that went 0-11. It's another to have a strong core of returning players from a team that went 9-4. Would I prefer to have five returning seniors that Mel Kiper has ranked 1-5 in the first round of the NFL draft? Sure. But this is a damn sight better than having four freshmen and a sophomore or five returning linemen from an 0-11 team.

Well Boca, I don't know exactly when or by whom it was officially determined. I don't remember the hype last summer over Dobbs and Hurd.

I know about halfway through season we were all talking about injuries and what some of the reasons might be for them and I felt like S&C was as much an issue as anything.

Like I said the other day, I'm not expecting this to cure every issue we have, but I do hope its a welcomed improvement that I think is needed.

Well, the hype was real. There was some concern over Hurd's one-legged squats (or something like that). But other than his "lower extremity" injury after the UGA I don't recall Hurd being injured.

Wasn't it because he was too tall to be tailback?

I'm lost. Lol. What am I missing here?

I never said anything about Hurd.
