IMO, the NBA has been and becoming more of a political platform, and I judge it is more of a left-leaning political platform. Golden State is from a highly left-leaning part of the country, therefore by not going to the WH, they are appeasing their fans and standing by their perceived political affiliation. 'Crap' was probably too strong a description of what they represent, but I judge it is simply a political protest and nothing more.
Athletes from all sports have become more open about using the platform they've been given as an athlete/celebrity to make political statements. I, for one, don't give them much weight. I don't really care who Steph Curry is voting for much in the same way that I don't give a crap who Tom Selleck is voting for, but I do understand the desire to use the platform you've been given to effect change. I don't think it's the league, per se, endorsing anything, but a greater number of its players have.
Do please tell me how egotistical Trump is again.
