I don't see this as a bad move at the moment. Whole lotta turmoil and unrest going on in the UK at the moment and it might not be the best time for a State visit.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) keeps confusing Donald Trump with George W. Bush.
During a press briefing on Friday morning, she again referred to "President Bush" when she was discussing Trump. Pelosi may have had Bush on the brain because she said earlier on "Morning Joe" that she wished the 43rd president was in the White House now.
"First, he tries to charm you," Pelosi said of Trump. "President Bush tries to charm you. If that doesn't work, he tries to bully you. If that doesn't work, he walks away."
One reporter interrupted to say "Trump" to correct her, but Pelosi ignored him.
Two years after the White House was adorned in rainbow colors to commemorate the Supreme Court's ruling legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide, gay rights activists and lawmakers are preparing to march on Washington again, saying the current President threatens to erase those gains.
Gay rights activists plan to air their concerns at the "Equality March for Unity and Pride" in Washington on Sunday as well as at 50 sister marches at cities across the country this month.
The march Sunday, which will commemorate the upcoming anniversary of the shooting deaths of 49 people and wounding of more than 50 others at gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, comes despite Trump's promises during the campaign to be a "friend" to the gay community. Although Trump has continued President Barack Obama's executive order protecting LGBT federal workers and LGBT military service members still serve openly, his administration has revoked protections for transgender school students, and its mentions of the words lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender in statements have been few and far between.
In the two-page letter to public schools, the Trump administration said the Obama-era guidance did not provide "extensive legal analysis" of how its position was consistent with Title IX. The letter cited "significant litigation" caused by the guidance, showing the need for "due regard" of the role of states and local school districts in shaping education policy.
"As President Trump has clearly stated, he believes policy regarding transgender bathrooms should be decided at the state level," the White House said in a statement.
"The joint decision made today by the Department of Justice and the Department of Education returning power to the states paves the way for an open and inclusive process to take place at the local level with input from parents, students, teachers and administrators."
That's been your attitude since the day you were born. You are probably the least objective person on the board.
Just tell the truth. Unlike his other recent visits, the people are not controlled. He doesn't want the optics of him being booed by tens of thousands of people.
Personally, I'm glad he's not going. I'm tired of him embarrassing us.
Reagan was a master. He knew he had the support of the majority of the American people. If congress wasn't cooperating he took it the American people and then congress would fall in line.
Cooperation went on the window with Bush 41. When Bush compromised with democrats in allowing a tax raise which he pledged he wouldn't, the dems turned on him and used it against him in the next election. The age of compromising between the parties end then.
