The post Tebow curse will live on. It is really amazing to me that a school with a recruiting base like that, with talent abundant everywhere else throughout the roster, hasn't had a QB worth anything for the better part of a decade. And I thought ole yellow teeth was an offensive guru, they haven't exactly burned it up since his arrival, and he's had enough time to show at least some improvement.
Good, cause he sucks. What does it say about the state of UT football if losing two in a row to the Vols gets your coach fired?
Yeah you won the East two years in a row, but you lost to Tennessee two straight years...time for you to go.
Then again, Zook was all but fired when he mismanaged the clock to allow that Banks Hail Mary TD in 2003.
In the absence of better options, McElwain is our coach in 2018 regardless.
On the one hand, Zaire couldn't even win the starting QB job on a Notre Dame team that went 4-8.
On the other hand, back when he was a sophomore, Zaire led the Irish to a bowl win over #23 LSU, and was the game's MVP.
So he might be good. Or he might be bleh. Kinda hard to tell when he played very little in his four seasons as an undergrad (0 games as a freshman, 2 as a sophomore, 2 as a junior, and about 0.5 as a senior).

Brilliant post...it's not as though McElwain's last team was the overwhelming favorite to win the East, finally won the big game everyone hoped he'd win, only to crap the bed against South Carolina and Vandy.
Because that would really suck.![]()

I noticed today that Aschoff (Gator homer posing as ESPN reporter covering the SEC) has a new article about Zaire's potential contributions to FL this fall. Aschoff says that Zaire "has more experience than any other Gator signal-caller with 15 games under his belt at Notre Dame," which is as close to a flat-out lie (the 15 game part) as you can come while being technically correct.
See, Zaire "has 15 games under his belt" in the same way that Quinten Dormady has 10 games under his belt at Tennessee.
To be far more accurate, Zaire did not play at all in his freshman year ... started 2 games as a sophomore, started 2 more as a junior before being injured and missing the entire rest of the season, and played only about half of the first game of his senior year before being pushed aside in favor of Kizer the rest of the season.
In other words, he played 4.5 games and mopped up in 10 others.
Extremely misleading, Ed, for shame.
Its weird to me too that UF can't find a decent QB. I could be wrong, but outside of Tebow and a few other exceptions the state of UF hasn't produced a large amount of QB talent relative to the amount of overall talent that Florida spits out ever year. The state always produces great skill players but a top flight QB isn't always in the mix.
McElwain is far from the worst coach in the SEC. I'd have to say he is among the Top 5 or 6.

I missed where I wished for anything...and I post here regardless.
I just think the rest of the SEC fears Butch Jones about as much as you guys fear McElwain, possibly less.
