At the end of the day it doesn't matter. Shut up and win. Then you can say whatever you want or nothing at all and it really won't matter a bit.
Lighten up Frances. It was a joke. You took that sentence out of context, Beecher. When I say "my" I mean all of ours. None of us have anything but words here, in these forums.
We don't have faces, hands, or arms here. We can only communicate with words. It's all we have in this place. So words take on even greater importance than normal.
It has been said that 90% of all communication in life is non-verbal. If that's true, we're all but mute here, trying hard to communicate clearly to one another with both hands tied behind our backs, hidden.
That's what I meant. By taking that one sentence out of context, you made it seem like something else entirely.
Thus proving my point about how important it is that we take extra steps to be sure we're being clear to one another.
Or, we could collectively take the opposite tack.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter. Stop pole vaulting over his words. He can say whatever he wants, it's no skin off our nose as long as he wins.
I like this version better, because it's us taking care of our own business, rather than spending all our time in his.
Okay, you win, in it until late October in 2015. And, I will point out that the head-to-head game is al that separated those two teams. I get it that UT didn't get it done, but it was closer than you make it out to be.
And, it still doesn't change the fact that UT was in it until FL beat LSU in 2016.
So, Butch is accurate...and you are fishing.
You sure, Boca?
On October 25th, the day after the loss to Bama, we were 1-3 (SEC) with 4 conference games to go. Best we could end up would be 5-3 (which we in fact did).
Florida, the eventual division champ, was 4-1, with UGa, Vandy, and USCe still ahead. They owned the tie-breaker over us with the win in September.
It was all but certain they'd win at least one of those final three conference games and lock us out, but mathematically speaking, it hadn't happened yet. They could, theoretically, end up 4-4. It wouldn't be until a week later when they beat Georgia (the same weekend we beat Kentucky), that we would've been completely eliminated from contention.
I mean, in reality you're absolutely right. No way we could expect Florida to lose all three remaining games. And you're TOTALLY right that we were definitely not still contending in late November, as Eze thought.
But mathematically...I think we were technically "in the running" another week, until October 31st.
p.s. Okay, my bad, I re-read your post and realized you weren't talking mathematically, you meant realistically. It was clear in how you talked about FL's last three games. My bad, I misunderstood at first.
I'm thinking he means SEC championships. And to be fair this is just playing to the recruits and the fans. Tennessee has competed for the east. No one really has competed for the title though. Bama has had a strangle hold on it.https://twitter.com/DanWolken/status/869602612399808512
Do you think Tennessee has competed for championships in the Jones Era?
My reading of that is, he's just saying we're getting closer. Striving, contending. Which we have been. Here's hoping 2017 is a breakthrough year. Go Vols!
