D4H's 2017 NFL Draft Review (Best Picks, Best Drafts, and Predictions)

Josh will equal that by himself in his first 16 starts.

He'll be the guy that makes 300/100 games a more common occurence.

Remember before Josh went for 300/100 as a sophomore against South Carolina that only Johnny Manziel and Tim Tebow had done it before in SEC history. And only Manziel did it more than once. Josh joined him the following year as the only player in SEC history with 2 career games of 300 yards passsing and 100 yards rushing.

That stat worked out well for Johnny.

The one that left Tennessee as 2nd all-time in TDs and 3rd all-time in yards. And who on a per game basis averaged more yards and TDs than Peyton Manning.

That is the Josh Dobbs I watched the last 3 years.

Arguably the best offensive player in program history.

Yards and TD are irrelevant. Right? Wait, what day is it? That's right, QB passing yards are the standard measure on Wednesday's.

Never said they were irrelevant. All I said is they were not dispositive. The top 10 QBs in passing yards are not necessarily the top 10 QBs in the NFL. Something like QBR or the traditional QB Rating might be a better measure for who the top 10 QBs are in a given year.

Frank Wycheck retired with a perfect passer rating. Is he the greatest QB in NFL history?

Interesting that two qb's at which you've thrown shade, Luck & Stafford, are among the six that were top 10 in both yards and QBR.

VSF, I haven't read everyone of his posts. Most of the ones I've read, he has more or less, stuck to his guns. I even read one today about the 2016 draft, where he admitted he was wrong. I never said I agreed with him, but it seems to me, no matter how crazy, his predictions are, he sticks with the ones, I've read. Now, he may try to justify 'em, with some outlandish reason. But, hell, so has most of VolNation. I don't know how old D4H is? He seems young to me. He has strong opinions about players, sometimes going on borderline hero worship. But, none of that, was really my point. He obviously, spent many hours on his Draft Review and although, we didn't agree on a lot, I had to give him props for that. I would never take the time to do something like that. What about u ? Real life gets in the way, but I enjoyed reading it and disagreeing with a lot of it. I just think he is young and passionate about his sports beliefs. Isn't that, one of the reasons, we come to VolNation? To hear other opinions about sports and share ours

Read this one. It gives some insight.

Embrassing.

Putrid.

Disgusting.

I can't believe I trusted these guys to improve. I can't believe I thought Butch Jones was anything but a liability. I can't believe I thought Dobbs could pass the ball.

I'd like to apologize to everyone for everything I said over the summer. This team sucks and this QB is terrible.

Hopefully Florida blasts them next week and Butch Jones is fired on the spot.

I had to reread it, I can't believe he called Dobbs, terrible. I thought Dobbs was a god, by most of his descriptions and analysis. But, it does, once again, prove to me, just how young he is. I tried to give him some advice, hopefully he will follow it.

Yet you didn't touch on Dobbs QBR as justification for his future success. You used yards. The best part of it is you don't even realize what you're doing and when you do it.

So we're back to stats being irrelevant. Time is a flat circle.

Stats are relevant because it's impossible to watch every snap of every players career. Stats are a kind of cheat sheet sorta like Spark Notes. If you never read the book, Spark Notes are a nice synopsis and can get you by on some test questions. But nothing is as good as reading the entire book.

With regard to sports, nothing actually beats watching the game. Its always better to watch every snap of a player but since that is impossible to do with regard to every player, we use stats as a cheat sheet/shortcut.

I don't need a cheat sheet or shortcut to know what type of player Dobbs will be in the NFL. I watched every snap of his collegiate career and that is enough. Just as reading a book cover to cover is enough.

But did you watch every snap of every other college player? Or close to every snap? Or even close to a third of every snap?

To use your analogy: watching every snap of only one player and declaring him the best ever is like reading all of only one book and declaring it the greatest work of literature ever published.

Not even close to the same thing. Just wait for it.

I watched enough of every other QB to know they are not as good as Dobbs. Brad Kaaya comes close but that is it. To continue the analogy I read the spark notes on those guys and could tell they dont come close to Dobbs.

And for the record, I never said Dobbs was the best individual talent in this class. That would be Corey Davis. Its just the importance of the QB position and the fact Dobbs will be an All-Pro QB that puts him ahead of a guy like Corey Davis who I have as the most likely Hall of Famer from this draft.

You said that Josh Dobbs will lead the Steelers to 3 titles, will have multiple 300/100 games within his first 16 games, and will be the first QB with a 3000/1000 season. Unless Davis makes Jerry Rice look like a little b****, then there is no way he can be a greater player than Dobbs.

You continually make it obvious that you know nothing about the sport of football, or what qualifies as greatness.

So you saw that vs. collegiate talent he's a career 60% passer? However, he'll be significantly better than that vs. the best talent in the world? 10-4.

And he thinks he's going to have multiple 300 passing/100 rushing yards against the best of the best defenses, after only doing it twice against college defenses.

Oh so you watched every snap of every QB's career from last year's draft.

If you say you did, you might as well say you can fly too.
