I'm pretty sure we just got insulted.

If we just go out and kick some serious ass, the rest takes care of itself. Get back to the point where opposing teams dread coming to Neyland. Respect is earned.

I personally couldn't care less what they say OR think about UT..Or any other school..They should have been gone during the recent ESPN mass firings..IMHO there are MANY folks more deserving of being at ESPN than either of them....

Fact is.. if we don't win the east, we are the middle of the pack. That's just the way it is. Cause Fla, Ga, and UT always are so close in record every year. Mizzou was on top for a few years, now they're at the bottom. So if we can't beat Fla, GA plus USCe, you can't deny it.... hello middle of the pack, and we still have to go to Fayetteville for the return match...

Let's face it, the only reason Mizzou was ever on top of the east is because the other six east programs couldn't get their thumbs dislodged. When they put them up against a solid opponent, they folded.

But you are right about winning the east. If you aren't contending, you are pretending. It's time to go to Atlanta in December.

We? Hell, I don't give a rats arse what's said or written. Just words and an opinion. Don't care enough about them to be the least bit "insulted". Everyone looking for offenses under every damned rock these days. Folks need to get a thicker skin and grow a pair....and yeah, I mean to be politically incorrect.

I call it the difference between actually understanding a major college football program and not understanding one. Guess which side of the fence you are currently on.

Or the difference between debating a topic like an adult and acting like a jackwad to anyone who disagrees with you. Guess which side of the fence you're on.

This from the ESPN chat yesterday. Who is getting insulted by being called the other's Doppelganger? Us or Arkansas:

Schlabach: Forget the SEC. Can Tennessee defend its title as Champions of Life (64)? Or just reclaim the state championship from Vanderbilt (65)?

McGee: Ouch. I seriously can't wait to see if Tennessee can finally get over the hump (66). The Vols haven't been to the SEC championship game since 2007! And keep an eye on their SEC West doppelganger (67). Arkansas is entering its fifth year with Bret Bielema. I don't think his job's in imminent danger, but it's time to pair some signature wins with his signature personality.

They still have jobs or was this done from a mic and cassette tape recorder in their basement?

Schlabach is German for ignorant taint stain. Why does he if all people get to say anything about Tennessee when Georgia took 4 steps backwards and their old coach 2 steps forward? Losing to a team two years in a row obviously made him mad. Nothing to see here.

Yeah i don't like it either. But 6-8 wins a year puts you in that discussion.

I find it interesting that when talking about tn, even for the supposedly unbiased, there's more emphasis placed on the shortcomings than the perception some think exists, outside of Knoxville.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter, all that matters is what's going on in the complex over there.

I'm not sure this means what I think it does. My reading comprehension is struggling with it. Help me out.

How so? Where I come from 9 is a greater total than 8 and 7. Not to mention how is Arkansas's recruiting rankings under Bielema? I'll take where UT is currently at over where Arkansas is.

How much difference do you really think there is between a 9-4 team and an 8-5 team?

Based on performance against the SEC West, I can't be sure Tennessee would be bowl eligible the last two seasons with Arkansas' schedule.

Or Florida for that matter.

Yes, exactly.

I don't know what anyone in the SEC East has done that says we are vastly superior to anyone right now.

I admit I take vandy, Kentucky, and the three cupcakes for granted every year and based on the scoreboard the last few seasons I shouldn't.

It's not like those games haven't been competitive.

One thing both teams do have in common is that they both slapped Florida around.

The east varies from mediocre to not very good.

Eh.

Had UT won the east we'd still be talking about it.
___
We'd probably be talking about how humiliating it was to lose 55-10 in the SEC title game to bama. We weren't ready to play them last year in any game. Winning the east would have been very small consolation compared to getting hammered twice in one year to them. Once was bad enough. The distance between us and them is so vast...it is one of my biggest issues w the program. You just can't continue to have such a wide gap w them.

That would be a topic as well, but the fact UT finally got back to Atl and did it under Jones wouldn't be lost.

I'm not taking anything away from a 9-4 season ( wasn't that long ago where 5-7 with no bowl game was a regular occurrence) However, if you want people to shut up got to get to Atlanta

Reading is hard.....

The writer is not comparing programs as a whole...he says doppleganger meaning both coaches in year 5...both trying to get over the hump..etc..

Nothing in there says anything about the schools historically or otherwise being equal.

People should stop being so sensitive..good lord
