If you truly believe this you are a moron. If you don't believe it and you are still spouting it, you are a troll. Either way, you are wrong. I cannot name a single poster on this board that is happy with 8-4 and will tell you that they will take 8-4 every year from now on. Since 80% of this board falls into your gross generalization, step up and throw out some names. Shouldn't be too hard.
Believe me or not 2 guys in there 50's both UT fans their entire lives have converted to Alabama fans in the past 10 years. No lie. NegaVols to Bama fans you seriously can't make that kind of stuff up!!! I tell them they are bandwagon fans but the bother were Tennesee fans for over 35-40 years
Going with "or not". No Vol fan could ever convert to pulling for Bama or any other team for that matter. Just not possible. I literally couldn't not pull for Tennessee if I tried.....and believe me, the last decade or so has made me "try"....it lasts about 3.5 seconds or so. Not for all the money in the world, just couldn't do it. And if others are claiming they could/did, I think they're full of ish.
Here's what an opposing coach has to say in Athlon about the end of our year last year:
"I don't know how they'll be on defense. As everybody over there got hurt, they got really bad, and you can sit there and say it's the coaches fault, but when you're playing with second- and third-stringers in our league you'll get gashed, especially on the back end. Vanderbilt hung (45) on them and it's not like Tennessee doesn't know what they are doing"
What about it Negavols, you are always blaming CBJ? Here's an opposing coach saying you can't blame coaching.
It is what it is. Progress is being make and will continue to be make regardless of what the dozen doubters spew. The program is in the best shape it has been in the last 10 years. Recruiting is looking very good. We have improved our coaching staff. The players are working harder in their strength and condition efforts. We had six players drafted this year compare to 0 the last two years. We have a new AD.The APR is the highest ever.
I guess if we wanted to go back to where we were 6 years ago, we could again fire all the coaches, lose our recruits, have half the team transfer, hire another coach and start all over again so the neagvols could start a new decade of bitc*ing and complaining. I dont think I want to go that way again when the program is on the upswing. You may, but over 80% dont want to. Go back to playing your flute in the band.

The question isn't "progress" though pretty much any competent coach would have made some progress over what UT has been over the last several years.
The question is about the things that have prevented MORE progress and what those patterns of behavior and performance mean for the future. From there, we get to the VERY important question as to whether the progress made is enough. Some of us say it isn't... some of you say it is.
I bet what Butch spews after games this year will be much more measured. Which would give me hope that he is in fact not as stubborn as advertised and capable of adjusting for the better. I'm impressed with the addition of Brady Hoke and Butch's cutting bait on his OC and DC buddies. He's doing better than Fulmer did with staffing decisions. He still makes mistakes, but he seems to learn from them even if he doesn't admit it publicly. I bet we don't see any more FGs from the 1 yard line or kicking the extra point for OT from the 1 and a half yard line.
