So 80% of the board is happy with 8-4 seasons and no SECCG's? Talk about setting the bar as low as possible.
It is what it is. Progress is being make and will continue to be make regardless of what the dozen doubters spew. The program is in the best shape it has been in the last 10 years. Recruiting is looking very good. We have improved our coaching staff. The players are working harder in their strength and condition efforts. We had six players drafted this year compare to 0 the last two years. We have a new AD.The APR is the highest ever.
I guess if we wanted to go back to where we were 6 years ago, we could again fire all the coaches, lose our recruits, have half the team transfer, hire another coach and start all over again so the neagvols could start a new decade of bitc*ing and complaining. I dont think I want to go that way again when the program is on the upswing. You may, but over 80% dont want to. Go back to playing your flute in the band.
The question isn't "progress" though pretty much any competent coach would have made some progress over what UT has been over the last several years.
The question is about the things that have prevented MORE progress and what those patterns of behavior and performance mean for the future. From there, we get to the VERY important question as to whether the progress made is enough. Some of us say it isn't... some of you say it is.

Here's what an opposing coach has to say in Athlon about the end of our year last year:
"I don't know how they'll be on defense. As everybody over there got hurt, they got really bad, and you can sit there and say it's the coaches fault, but when you're playing with second- and third-stringers in our league you'll get gashed, especially on the back end. Vanderbilt hung (45) on them and it's not like Tennessee doesn't know what they are doing"
What about it Negavols, you are always blaming CBJ? Here's an opposing coach saying you can't blame coaching.
If he had been up to the job... he wouldn't have waited so long and probably wouldn't have brought those guys with him to start with.
there were a lot of injured players, but should Butch not have known they where out of shape. some of the injuries where questionable . a lot of player just quit playing hard for Jones. in the opener he had all his players and won . but that win was a long shot like GA. they count 9-4 was very questionable . they did worse than there record.
The poll says 80% are satisfied being a second tier program that frequently loses winnable games and blows great opportunities to win championships or significant bowl berths?
If so... that's just sad.
Sad, indeed -- but such is the current state of TN football.
Quite a fall for such a storied program.
All true guys. But these quotes are purposefully anonymous. I tend to agree with the assessment. At least I hope he's right and our coaches don't suck.
^ Complains a lot about negavols complaining about Butch and program, doesn't see irony ^
:lol:How often do you attend in person a Vols game only to shout out your disaffection for a coach, a play call, a player, or the team's execution in a given series? Care to expound on the irony of that?
What percentage of men complain about the nagging of their wives/girlfriends? Care to expound on the irony of that?
What percentage of men look at their own penises while standing to urinate in a public restroom? Care to expound on the irony of that?
