Vols wide receiver josh smith arrested (with updates)

It's been stated numerous times in this thread and newspaper accounts that Josh "finished it" by kicking the roommates face in when said roommate was lying on the ground.

You're cool with that and apparently a lot of people on the board are, too. But the law see's it differently.

Didn't know the part about him kicking the guy in the face. That obviously changes things if it's true, he should've stopped well short of that. Just kicking his ass after defending himself would've been plenty.

It could be a case of---the roommate just needed a ass whipping. IF so---It might make him a better person for he rest of his life. We all know some young punk that just needs a good ass whipping to set them stright.

The hospital called the police from what I read --- JS admitted he did it at that point -- likely will on the hook for the medical bills and probably probation.

Probably on parents insurance.. Cover the out of network on deductible charges

Plus an attorney will most likely be involved so theres that expense also

As far as suit brought against Josh, his or his parents homeowners would provide legal defense but not pay any injury claim as the occurrence was not accidental. Being his roommate though I doubt it ever makes it that far.

Money's not an issue for Josh Smith. His family is wealthy, and they have a very good attorney on retainer.

You think he'll lose his girlfriend?

If I get her phone #, what'll y'all pay me for it?

The accuser is seeking 875k dollar check by May 30th, or he will be sued for 3 million in a civil case.

Freaking ridiculous. This is the society we live in today. I'm ashamed of it and I'm only 23 years old. Money grab at its finest here. Patch up the nose and teeth and move on.

Really? Your judging the entirety of Human society by a misguided 21 year old whose lawyer smells a pay day? Get a better filter man, life will be way better.

We don't know what really happened. Maybe Josh was in the wrong here and attacked this guy. If so, he's responsible for his injuries and he should pay. The problem is, where do they expect to recover money from? No insurance policy will pay for an intentional act. I don't believe he probably owns any assets. And his chances of making it to the league are slim. This will go no where or get settled for a nominal amount.

Many said after the title IX suit had to be settled:

May as well up the settlement reserves. Every accusation/fight/person offended by anyone at UT, will now come with a price tag. At least for the time being, until the university wins one.

The accuser, Foster, works for Josh Smith's dad. The family has assets.
