UT gets their bowl rings

My 11 year old son (at the time) plays competitive soccer and they finished second in a tournament so they got a 2nd place medal. They had a medal ceremony where they present the medals and they placed the medal around his neck. While my son and some of his teammates were walking back towards the car, he passed a trash can and threw the medal in there.

I had a couple of parents say I needed to control my son for that "disrespectful act".

This is our world.

On a more positive note...I have a friend who coaches soccer that refused trophies for his kids because they didn't win the championship. The league, and some parents were highly upset, but the kids by and large were really receptive.

So we should stop giving out silver and bronze medals in the Olympics?

What is it about CBJ that you don't like?

Is it wins and losses?

Or have you made it personal?

Or has CVJ made it personal?

I like jewelry, so I say the more the merrier.

Is that white gold? I prefer yellow gold.

What would you mix with gold to make orange and so yellowish,

Lol we've discussed this a few times before but here it is again the short version anyways. I could tolerate the on the field results if it weren't for Butch's off the field nonsense, make sense?

I would call you a bada$$ however soccer and being a bada$$ don't go hand in hand

I think I'm the opposite.

I'm grumpier about the losses than his quotes.

Go 15-0, he could write a cliche book and I would buy 2.

I am tired of "Behind the chains.", retire that one.

If he goes 15-0 I couldnt honestly care less about what he says lol however his comments make those losses sting a little more

That's fair. But there's nothing he could say that would make them sting less.

He could say we lost because of him, but that's just a cliche other coaches have used.

Rings are for WINNERS......of CHAMPIONSHIPS! Getting a ring for a regular season game, and a lower tier bowl (especially since you missed out on the Sugar) is ridiculous. At the very least don't publicize it....it's embarrassing for the entire program. (You think Bama gives out participation rings?) By doing so you marginilize the process, and minimize the accomplishments of previous Volunteers that actually won something of consequence.

I know a couple a lettermen that are absolutely in disbelief over this.

I would bet most of the players will not go flashing them around too much, even if they do appreciate having a memento from the game.
