'18 MD DT P.J. Mustipher

I think we should take 4 this year regardless because Tuttle and Kmac have proven to be injury prone.

you know they don't show up until 18 right? Tuttle and Kmac's senior year. hopefully we are deep enough to RS most of them for a year, so hopefully none of the 4 will even contribute while those mentioned are here.

Yes but I feel like we didn't take enough true DTs last year either

Probably true if Butler sticks at DE. I think he and Thaxton have the type of frames to slide inside eventually though if need be.

Snagging 3 true DTs and a kid like Emerson who could play inside or outside potentially would let those two stay outside and work on their craft there though.

I don't think anyone will disagree that defense is #1 when it comes to competition for this league and beyond. And it starts with the DL.

You don't need 4 elite DTs in every class to do that. No one else has done that. And never will for that matter.

But if we did, think how much fun it would be for US to watch... :)

From all I've been seeing it's really Tennessee / Penn State even though his brother is at ND. Most seem to "assume" it will be Penn State in the end, but I wouldn't count out Brady Hoke. He's an elite recruiter and he's always been a very strong recruiter in the NJ/MD/DC area.

If a top 100 player and top 10 DT wants to come you make room. We could always red shirt 1 or 2 of the DTs and they could be apart next year's class. I think we are going to get Emerson, Litaker, and Lawless, but I don't see us flipping the kid committed to Bama even though it seems like he is listening.

:good!:

Watching one cover a WR would be entertaining in a way.

Didn't say they would all be on the field at the same time.

Meant you could have two sets of elite level DTs rotate throughout the game so that all 4 are fresh and destroying the opponent OL all game and especially in the 4th quarter. :hi:

Dooley Oline recruiting agrees with this message. why recruit next year, when you can redshirt this year?

Did I ever say anything about not recruiting O-Line. The line on both sides of the ball is the most important position and when elite prospects want to play that position for you, You accept their commitment. Or you could attempt to have a 10 WR rotation and carry less big bodies.

Lol. I talk about oversigning as a problem and you think I am arguing we should oversign to fix it.

I have no idea what you are talking about. My point is I think that the coaches should value elite players at positions that are hard to recruit and if it means sacrificing a wide receiver one year then so be it.
