Are Dobbs' Mechanical Issues Fixable? - Article

It isn't a waste of time... it is good sport to see you embarrass yourself.

I hope he does. But his problems throwing the ball on the college level will only be magnified on the pro level unless someone can get inside his head and enable him to properly place the ball with consistency.

Like he won the Heisman, SEC, and NC, right? Doesn't it ever embarrass you to be as wrong as you are?

You are just as bad as D4H but the opposite end of the spectrum. You have never fairly evaluated Dobbs. You still think Worley is a better passer. :thud::eek:lol::post-4-1090547912::rofl:

I have fairly evaluated Dobbs. I like Dobbs. I love my oldest son... that didn't change the fact that he was too stiff in his pitching motion and never really overcame it.

Dobbs has a strong arm. His athleticism and general intelligence are beyond question. He is accurate in drills.

BUT... somehow that breaks down when he needs to anticipate a play and place the ball where it needs to be with consistency.

Whether Dormady is ever a good QB or not... we'll see. However, Dobbs just didn't make the kinds of throws that we saw QD make to the two Wolf brothers. Dobbs didn't throw receivers open and often put them in vulnerable positions by throwing late.

This isn't Dobbs hate. I'd love for someone to find a technique to fix these problems and for him to become everything D4H has always pretended that he was. But these are real problems that will prevent an NFL career if he doesn't overcome them.

We've both given a fair evaluation.

Since you think you do evaluate Dobbs fairly who was the better passer? Worley or Dobbs?

I think Dobbs got a lot better at that last year. I really hate to criticize Worley though because the talent around him was complete slop

He did.....but still really bad at making that 2nd and 3rd read. Don't have video of it, but especially in the UGA game, he missed wide open receivers and forced it to double coverage or tight coverage many times last year.

I agree with all of that. The game never completely slowed down for him. I still felt a lot better when he dropped back than I did with Worley.

I never thought Worley could really compete at this level, even though I knew he was surrounded by subpar talent. Guy had a huge heart tho

If only football was a one on one game. But unfortunately its 11 on 11. And you need other players to play at a high level to succeed.

Dobbs in 2016 played good enough over the entire season to win a heisman trophy, the SEC championship, and national championship. Unfortunately he couldn't overcome a terrible offensive line, a barrage of injuries on defense, and incompetent coaching from Butch Jones.

Watch how good Dobbs will be in the NFL because he went to an organization like the Steelers. He'll finally get proper coaching. He'll finally be playing behind an offensive line. And he'll be surrounded by two of the best playmakers in the NFL in Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell.

I've said it before and will keep saying. If Big Ben goes down, Dobbs will not give the job back. He'll lead the Steelers to the Super Bowl next year as a rookie. He's that talented and the team he got drafted to is that loaded.

Don't forget all the time he had to study in his classes.

I hated when I heard it at the time, but there was merit to the point that he was from Rock Hill, SC yet Steve Spurrier didn't recruit him. He was basically Rick Clausen without the supporting cast.

Not only that, but he was the Player of the year in the state wasn't he?

Do what? Josh played well enough through the entire season to win all those things? You're either severely misinformed or you're being dishonest.

Josh had great moments (Hail Mary vs UGA, 2nd half vs UF, parts of TAM gm) throughout the season and he crushed it the last 5 games vs TnTech, Kentucky, Missouri, Vandy and Nebraska......he wasn't playing at the elite level it takes to win those things until late in the season, when we were beyond the meat of the schedule and our season's primary goal was gone...right after Dobbs went 12-26 with 3 turnovers vs SCar.

As I've mentioned to you before, through the first 8 games.....2/3 of the season.....Dobbs was completing 57% of his passes with 15 tds and 11 interceptions.....that ain't good enough to win ANY of the awards/championships you listed.

Why can't it be both? He's demonstrated the ability to be a dual-threat clown.

How quickly Vols fans forget...Did you see the South Carolina game? How 'bout the end of the A&M game?

He was horribly inaccurate. He regularly threw wobbly passes. I don't see the Steelers being able to fix that but since I'm a Bengal fan, I'm glad.

His value to the Vols were his legs. They bailed us out time and time again.
