Vols wide receiver josh smith arrested (with updates)

Did his roommate call the law or was it someone else? I didn't see anything confirming either way.

The fact that he was concerned for his roommate should go a long way. He might have worried about alcohol poisoning or depression for his roommate.

This is what I was thinking. He may have been concerned that his depressed, drunk friend may have been hurting himself. I'd be willing to bet that the roommate ends up with some sober regrets over the escalation, as did Mr. Smith.

Right, I've found that when ever a buddy of mine is depressed a couple of hard kicks to the face seems to snap them out of it.

I had to break down the door on a friend one time. He had done a bunch of nerve pills on top of drinking and passed out on the phone with me. He actually was pi55ed at me for breaking his door. We didn't fight but it was close to it. We would have remained friends regardless. No police. No whining and no hysteria. It will be OK.

Ever watch MMA? Pretty common rule of engagement these days

It's not just these days. I've never witnessed a fight when one guy falls on the ground, the other guy just stopped immediately. There's usually a few punches or kicks thrown afterwards.
I'm guessing many guys in here have only seen boxing or maybe the lifetime channel.

I hope his roommate doesn't look like Bobby Petrino (somebody post the pic). That would make self-defense plea a little bit harder to claim.

Not MMA.. This face kicking (if true) was just immature drunk sh--. Not very good stuff for a supposed "team leader". If this is what a "team leader" is doing, then what does it say about the "team" being lead?

Hopefully the same thing that it used to say about those Doug Atkins and Leonard little teams.

Prior to the invention of the internet and social media, this would have not made the news at all. By the time the newspaper got around to printing anything it would have been resolved and more than likely never known by most.

Some reporters and news outlets really need to practice the wait 24 to 48 hour rule and wait until the facts are in before they make the decision to push this out there with "click bait" headlines that lead folks to think this is something it really wasn't.

That's true.
And I know everyone has a different take on things and that's just how it is. I've reached the age where I'm 'old school' now and surprised.
Despite the drama club so prevalent these days, I just never imagined that
1. 2 beered up college kids fighting, would be news.
2. If it was reported, the football player winning and being aggressive would be shocking and cause for such concern.

No matter the protests and sensitivity issues addressed in this thread, it was still just drunk college guys in a good ole fashioned fight.

Seems there can be such a thing as too sensitive.

Think Butch might kick him of to make a example out of him because he is always hurt plus he is a 5th year senior if he could stay on the field he could help this team this year.:dunno:

We have plenty of WRs. Have heard he has best hands in PRACTICE. Don't care what Butch does on this one. While he's made some great catches in games, he's also dropped some critical balls too.

Any arrest was reported fairly quickly. Plenty of examples to call upon

Domestic assault...wtf? Getting in fights with your roommate is what drunk 23 year-old guys do. Nothing to see here...move along.

Have you ever been in a fight? There's no such thing as fighting fair.

If we have learned anything this offseason, don't fight with any UT player with the last name of Smith.

That ended up with the other guy in the hospital... Let's see his picture and see how even it was. Cmon fella, I had the decency to say I was speculating, and here you are saying 'end of story.' What a joke. This is one of the reasons why the country is they way it is now: my bias overrules any facts in the matter... To you it's the end of the story, but it's barely the beginning bud.
I'm not saying anything will be made of this and that JS will most likely be fine, but to have your bias for tn football overwhelm any facts in the matter (before theyre even completely known for chrissakes) is laughable.
These other posts about blaming the media for doing their job is also disgusting. It's like you guys hate america or something.

So you admit that you don't know any of the said "facts" just that they aren't your facts? You are what is wrong with the country. Cut your finger go to the hospital. Spill hot coffee in your lap, sue because you didn't know it would burn. If the guy was hurt that bad JS would be in jail and not out on $200. He will get a misdemeanor, run about a zillion steps and be fine. You are making WAY more out of this than should be WITHOUT knowing what actually went on. Believe me, I lived in K'ville long enough to know that if the KPD and Campus rentacops could sink their teeth in him, they would.
