AHCA Passes House

And since we're on healthcare, while I'm debating LG, Mt LeConte, Luther and the others (deep down I care about you guys, no really)....public service announcement for all you clowns out there on both sides of the political divide. Considering my occupation where I have to have a First Class Medical certificate to do my job, two physicals each year to keep it, heart history on my dad's side (although my dad never had heart issues) AND the fact I'm fast approaching the half century mark...I had a calcium scoring test done today. If you don't know about it, it's basically a CT scan or ultrasound of your heart. Scores between 0 and 600. You want to be 0. 100 or more and you're showing signs of coronary artery disease (plaque build up) or you're already there. $125 and insurance is not involved. Fairly new but it's the easiest way to get a good look at your heart and it's not invasive at all. Anyway, pretty cheap for peace of mind. So if you have history in your family or adopted and don't know your genetic history or just curious, get yourself checked out. Cheeseburgers are on me this weekend! I scored a zero, thank God.

Some of you crying over the cost being put on the states have no idea how the original POS ACA financially affected the states..... look it up

Congrats, and good advice.
I'm on the other side of the half century mark and I'm one of those that avoids the doctor like the plague. I think I've been to the doctor 3 times in the last 25 years. May be time to have a few things checked out.

Yeah, a regular physical and this calcium score test my be a good place to start. The sooner you can get out ahead of something, the better.

Back pre-Obamacare, Owning my own company I was trying to keep employees and attract higher quality new employees. My workforce consisted of blue collar, trade type people. So I had some companies to present some plans. I pretty muched allowed the employees to pick a plan that they felt like worked the best for them. They chose a higher co-pay, lower annual deductible, and consequently loer weekly deduction. I would pay pay 50% of the employees premium and their portion would come from their check each week. I think the numbers were around a $35 office visit co-pay and $10 prescriptions, but the nice thing was a maximum out-of pocket was $1000 annually. The premiums started out at about $20 per week for the employee (obviously $20 per employee for me too). Over the next few years, up to about 2012, the premiums went up a little to about $25/week. After Obamacare, I had to drop the coverage because I can't afford it. I'm small enough that I don't have to provide it. I offered to my employees to get their own policies off the exchange and I would increase their wages to offset 1/2 of the cost. None took advantage and chose to go uninsured. Some had their insurance provided by their spouse several chose to not have it at all.

Just thought some might want some perspective from a small business owner.

According to many personal stories across America what you call a POS has saved many lives and kept college students on their parents insurance. The House sent the Senate a real POS.

Now's the time you have to decide which is a higher priority:

1. Your grandmother, who will have to go before a Republican death panel?

or

2. The 401k of Billy, from across the tracks, with his tech company, Mercedes sports coup, and his vacation home in Tahoe?

That's pretty much what House Republicans are asking you right now, and no amount of delusional VolNation spin can change that fact. You decide.

So? You do realize that college students can enroll in health insurance programs offered by literally all schools right?

Or are you advocating putting off adult responsibility as long as possible?

Okay, so what specifically is so bad about it?

We'll wait on your detailed answer.

Complete Garbage... Nearly all individual health insurers were already allowing college age kids to stay on health plans. I was selling plans with that included 10-15 years ago.

CBO evaluated this yet? Surely the party of fiscal responsibility vetted the financial impact of the bill they passed - are we just assuming it's better than the ACA or do we just take there word for it?

Seems like a positive CBO analysis would have been an easy way to sell this to American's.

Everybody knows that the point of this exercise was just to pass something house R's found palatable and kick it over to the Senate. This is months away from anything concrete.

Also keep in mind, that's the same CBO that estimated Obamacare would send 20+ million to the exchange. it's an inexact science when predicting behavior.

Donny's time is running out, and Republicans know it. So they're getting very desperate now and trying to milk it for all it's worth.

At this point, the bill could have called for automatic euthanasia of all people over 80, and House Republicans would have still passed it.

Gotta get what they can through before the happy dance comes to a grinding halt.

I think you may be right, punt it to the senate and make this their burden. Now the house can go on vacation, I'd wager that this may get a return to sender stamp sooner rather than later.

It's just the way the sausage gets made. This was just step 1 and it almost doesn't matter what it looks like because there will be a Senate version and then a conference committee version before this is said and done.

Trump and the Republicans celebrating this yesterday is the same as the Falcons celebrating at halftime of the Super Bowl.

I'l take you righties on anytime you're ready, the fact that this forum is dominated by the far right doesn't make y'all right. This is only one of many issues the right has wrong and the coming months/ years will bear that out. Just like the bush years did.

And I'll repeat:

Specifically what in this bill is so bad? If you have grievance with it, you might as well let out your hate and specific reasons why.

Otherwise, posts like you have above just makes you look childish and throwing a temper tantrum to rival a 14 year old girl that was grounded from going to a One Direction concert.

TL/DR; put up or shut up.

the answer you seek will never materialize
