My wife too. She'll be kicked off her insurance, quite possibly.
Bill Maher did an excellent segment some months back about today's Republicans. Basically that none of them give a crap about people until they actually have a close friend or family member that experiences, say, a health crisis, or have a close friend or family member that is gay.
Today's Republican Party (and I won't associate them with conservatism) is basically about the art of "being a dick," to quote Maher.
Just the hate and greed you see from members of this board are ample proof of that.
If both sides would stop acting holier than thou and exaggerating positions, we might get somewhere.
An evil, vile party, full of evil, vile people.
No doubt about it. The greater good does not matter, the Republicans have always been about lining the pockets of their donors and the wealthiest Americans while marginalizing everyone else. Their Christianity card has been revoked - greed is not a virtue. Hypocrisy is their true calling card.
I've made it no secret that I sympathize with the Democratic party far more than today's manifestation of so-called "conservatism" in the Republican Party.
While Democrats have numerous flaws, I think they actually care about people more than Republicans. I think all Republicans care about are things like 401ks, tax cuts for the wealthy, and cutting programs for the nation's most vulnerable, including the elderly.
It is one of the most remarkable feats in American politics over the past 20-30 years how the Republican Party has conned an entire generation of Americans - especially many at the lowest rungs of society - that it is anything but the party of the rich man's dollar.
The primary reason I became a Republican was to change this Ayn Rand Soviet agent trend. Unfortunately, I think nothing but its own excesses are going to kill it, and that spells nothing but disaster for us all.
