Dormady montage: all 10 throws + QB Challenge

Versus not the starting group of dl. I wish people took it at what this is, a fan event. Not much is determined during these scrimmages other than to see which guys compete hard and technique of players. I don't like he holds the ball so low on every throw. Dl will swipe and it makes it for a longer throwing motion.

It doesn't matter that he was playing against second team. If you watch the distance he covers in that amount of time then you can tell he isn't slow by any means. I agree about holding the ball too long. I think that's a huge coaching issue that goes back to Worley's playing.

The worst part about QD winning the QB battle is going to be seeing his name spelled Dormandy all year so many times.

I think the only way to fix it is for him to legally change it to Dormandy. Then they'll switch to Dormady. :)

Good or bad, people always overreact to the spring game. I think both Dormady and Guarantano looked solid. Dormady wasn't under as much pressure from the defense, so he definitely looked more comfortable out there. I think it is reasonable to think Dormady has an edge on the competition heading into the summer, but Guarantano still threw the ball well and looked good too. I think everyone should be confident in either one of those guys.

But wait!!! If he plays really well next season we have the next great catch phrase. "The Dormandy invasion".

Was there really more pressure on JG or was QD getting the ball out quicker? I'll have to go back and examine more closely. Just curious.

I know Guarantano didn't look like Dormady, but I think if Butch rolls with Dormady,it may cost him his job by midseason.Especially if we start slow with that brutal schedule.Last year, going undefeated early and the AD change, saved his job.

Funny ! Dormady's looking great / no reason for JG to be ahead of him at this time.

Looking to me like Butch will be here sev more years.

But you feel free to take ALL summer to fret and worry.

What I noticed was how QD would step up in the pocket. JG seemed to have to roll out a lot and with the 2 hand touch crap, probably was out of his element a bit

I'm glad he made 10 of 10 but is anyone concerned that the secondary didn't really seem to contest any of these?

When Dormady committed to TN his dad was his high school coach didn't he change the high school offense to TN to help him get ready for college.

Heisman frontrunner but I think he should just sit out the season and prep for the draft next year...don't want to get hurt and all.

Seriously, he did look fairly sharp but JG wasn't bad and JG would shine more in a non-touch environment. Give Sheriron Jones some credit too for trying to play with a rib cage injury.

JG had more pressure on his pass attempts. I thought he did well under the circumstances. Dormandy looked really good an I agree he is #1 now. QD made quick reads and got the ball out fast.
The good news is we have good QBs. It is really going to be interesting watching this one play out. It going to be hard for JG to get enough reps to catch up on the mental side. Perhaps his legs can help close the gap.

Oline looked better. They pushed the los several times but then it is hard to evaluate them with half the DLine missing. Receivers and LBs looked improved. I was impressed the receivers were able to catch 10/10.

D. Taylor had both sacks on JG, so I tend to agree with you.

Nothing against QD who was spot on though! JG looked pretty good too...It's a good problem to have!

You don't need to run if you read the defense, make your decision, and get the ball out in under 3 seconds. His recognition and quick release can make an average O-line look stellar.
This. Plus, any of us old timers know that the footwork, the pocket presence, the touch and precision timing all present themselves in all situations; in an exhibition game like this one, or in a critical SEC nail-biter. Yesterday, QD showcased those same talents that drive NFL scouts into giddy fits. We've got ourselves a quarterback on team 121.

Fairly sharp? 10/10

Dormady looks ready to go. JG looked good as well, but I think Dormady is the starter if the season started tomorrow.

If QD turns out to be really good, how long until we hear "How come he played Dobbs over Dormady!!! FAHR BUTCH!"

Bound to happen if so. And we'll read this ad nauseum..."It was OBVIOUS to EVERYONE!"

With all due respect, the reason Dormady was under less pressure was the fact that he was going through his progressions faster. Guarantano got the deer in the headlights look a couple of times, while Dormady looked like he was in complete control of the offense.
