Josh Dobbs - NFL Draft thread (merged)

I like Dobbs a lot and I think UT will miss his ability to make plays with his feet next season, but I will certainly be surprised if he goes in the second round.

Don't ask me how I know but this is gonna happen.

The positive here is that Josh gets picked high in the 2nd round. Will be great for Josh and his family. And it will be great for our program to have a QB selected that high in the NFL draft. The negative is that he will probably have to sit for a year or two behind Philip Rivers. In all likelihood the most action we will see from Josh the next two years in the NFL is in the preseason. I would have preferred Josh getting drafted by the Steelers if he was gonna have to sit for a couple of years behind an aging veteran QB. But I guess the Chargers will have to do.

Time to start buying some Chargers gear.

I know one thing that you could be very well right on here D4H. That's Josh getting drafted in the 2nd round. He's moving up the draft boards. Very possible but I don't know about the Chargers but we'll see.

There are 2 stages of the NFL draft process. There is BC (before the combine) where most of the buzz comes from college football people. And then there is AC (after the combine). A guy like Dobbs gets overlooked before the combine because most of the talk is being done by people who follow college football. Not the NFL decision makers. This is how he gets projected as a 6th rounder before the senior bowl and now looks to he an early 2nd round pick. While on the other hand a guy like Jonathan Allen is projected as a top 3 pick in January and is now going to fall out of the top 10. Before the combine, college hype and success is overvalued.

After the combine in February is when the NFL draft process really begins. This is typically the time when coaches and GMs (the real decision makers) get their first look at the prospects and begin setting up their big boards. Only now in mid-April have draft rankings even been finalized.

That is why Dobbs has "risen". It's not like the NFL decision makers have changed their opinion on him. It's just that everything you were hearing before was conjecture by people who aren't in the know.

Among NFL people Dobbs value has always been higher than it was Among the college football people. They saw his immense potential and how badly his talents were mishandled by Butch Jones.

I started a Madden 17 season with Dobbs on the Chargers. Went 13-5 and won the Super Bowl... Crazy to agree with D4H but I hope he goes there as well.

I wouldn't be all that surprised to see the rams draft Dobbs. Goff stunk it up badly 80% of the time last year, I said before the draft last year that he wasn't going to be that great.

Would be a possibility. But if the Rams pick Dobbs it means he's going in a later round. The Rams can't burn one of their first few picks on a QB after trading away their draft last year.

You predicted the colts would take leaf.

And that's reaching...

Chargers will go after an O line , DE , and possible 2 WRs before even considering a QB.

Josh has a chance of getting drafted by Steelers if Mahones is taken. Same with Chiefs. Josh is their 2nd guy behind Mahones

The buzz on Dobbs has been strong and steady the last few weeks.

Look for him to go 38th overall to the Chargers.
You are too much in love with Dobbs bro. The chargers have a new head coach and new defensive scheme with Gus Bradley. When you have that situation plus Phillip rivers , you aren't gonna waste a high pick on a development guy till the much more later rounds. Whatever inside info you are getting is definitely busting your chops.

Not a chance. If he goes to chargers it will be their 4th pick

Dobbs value with NFL teams is higher than that of the media. Several teams are looking at him in the late 2nd to early 3rd round.

Chargers are taking him that early because there is no guarantee he'll be available when they pick in the 3rd round.
