Jordan Brangers has asked for a release from his LOI with Texas Tech in hopes of staying closer to his sick grandmother in Radcliffe, KY...he averaged 21ppg last season while shooting 50% from the field and 46% from deep. He broke Marshall Henderson's single season record for made threes with 151 makes, might be someone Tennessee reached out to once he gets his release.

Isn't he from Texas?

Take. But, is tennessee and close enough to Radcliff for him is the question. About a 4 hour drive from there to Knoxville. Id say he looks to go to Louisville which is about an hour.

Louisville was my first thought but they appear to not have an open spot, I'm thinking UK could be a likely spot as they've got plenty of scholarships and a need for experience.

That's a pretty strong assumption imo, those are the closest schools to him along with WKU, if grandma is really sick which is easily prove able then I don't blame him much.

Yes it's a cynical thought. Just pretty easy for Kentucky to float it out to his people that hey we have a need.

I agree, and it's definitely possible, but if I was him I wouldn't even consider UK...too many "lower ranked" guys go there and disappear, but I'm sure he thinks he's different.

This kid is M. Mulder part 2 though if he goes to UK. He may get a championship and the recognition of being a UK player, but he won't get the playing time he probably seeks.

I don't think there is anything shady about him going to UK if it happens, but I don't think it's a smart decision for him either.

VQ posted something about "a name to keep in mind", not sure who it's in reference to though, anyone with a sub?

If things don't work out with Darrington one name I've heard that could end up being worth keeping an eye on is Howard transfer James Daniel, a 6-foot-0 combo guard. He led all of Division I in scoring in 2015-16 at 27.1 ppg but played only two games this past season because of injury. He will be immediately eligible next year.

Ahh ok, so that was the guy indeed.

Fwiw Michigan is full but is mention with Alstork and Daniel, there's been some talk of Alstork preferring Michigan so if that's the case would seemingly eliminate them form Daniel. Surely to goodness you would think we could beat DePaul, so that leaves just Ohio State and Tennessee. Darrington is higher on our list and it seems to be between us and Memphis, so it seems pretty likely that 1/2 guys is likeliest to fill the final spot.

Have to wonder how much weight the staff may be putting on the fact that Darrington has 2 years of eligibility and Daniel's just the 1? Of course they could be using the line of thinking with Darrington that if this team say wins 20 games and makes the dance that they're returning everyone off that team and are primed for a big year 4.

Be interesting to watch, personally I prefer Darrington but admit I don't know much on Daniel.
