In FWIW column, listened to Ainge about an hour ago as he responded to a caller about what he is seeing out of the QB play so far. In summary he said if fans are expecting to see a running QB in JG they may be disappointed. He said he is very quick in a straight line when flushed, but that is much like QD in QB play. He said what we alls know that JG is about 6'4" with a basketball type body. He said QD has looked really good and that we now have two really good QB's on the roster with both of them.

That being said, Dobbs was not a true DT in HS. He developed the DT at UT. JG is the one that could do that if needed IMO. But it sounds like Ainge believes both are more mobile pro style at this point.

Gonna need a fire extinguisher when the "JG is the only option" crowd reads that.

What about Chris Burke?

IMO if they go alum, he should be the one because he has stayed close to recruiting with his camps, etc. Came in second to Serrano last time. I doubt Todd would want to get into recruiting and such, kind of a similar situation with him and baseball as Peyton and football. Would be nice if they could team up and do it together though.

Could be a good indicator of how Currie thinks combined with his marching orders from the higher ups.

I expect another 2 pages to be nothing but "JG better start" and "Dormandy is good, but..." posts. Don't let me down, VN.

:) That's why I rolled that little stink bomb in there. If I had posted my thoughts that said that there would be the usual 'ignore him he's an idiot' posts. But since it came from a proven UT QB with NFL experience that was coached up by Cut - thought that might add to their indigestion.

Yup, he went by all of the programs Saturday in a media tour. Sunday was not part of that.

The AD showing up at a random baseball game is not a normal event. Maybe that is how Currie likes running his program, but everyone was pretty surprised. It seemed like he was there to review the job of one of his coaches with the questions he was asking about the game/ his demeanor.

Or...he could just be a baseball fan. Doug Dickey attended pretty regularly, if I recall.

That correlates very closely to his actual stats in high school. He didn't run for many yards. But....posters on here have decided he is Michael Vick when he takes off running. Wonder who is more likely to be correct (1) very under-informed message board posters, or (2) HS stats combined with those comments from somebody that has seen both QBs much more than us. Ehhhh, though decision!

In all honesty, I agree that JG isn't the runner he has been made out to be. With that said, Dobbs didn't have huge running stats in high school, IIRC, but he went on to rush for 1500 yards combined his JR and SR year in the SEC.

I personally lean more towards JG, admittedly, but also think that which ever QB wins the job will be a good QB for us next year. If it is QD that wins job, I am behind him 100%.

Who is this Ainge person you speak of and what makes him an expert on QB's?

???? how you don't have Brandon Johnson in there when he made plays last year him and byrd was the only wr making plays..he played more than Callaway..I guarantee you he starts game 1 on the other side of Jennings

I would love to know what plays you're talking about? Byrd was the most consistent freshmen receiver. Callaway and Johnson weren't even close. Although, atleast Callaway made the most out of his playing time with that punt return TD.

Only got to be out on the course for a few hours but let me tell y'all, Volnation was out in force at Augusta. So much orange and Power Ts walking around. Easily outnumbered any other school I noticed. Fun to see.

A good and level headed post. I am the opposite on who I lean towards, but I'm with you in whoever wins I'm behind 100%. I think a lot of us are in this category.

We need to be scheduling softer. Playing teams like Oklahoma is dumb. We need to get Bama dropped from our schedule before we are gonna play top 10 teams in non conference every year.

100% agree.

Spare me the "we are Tennessee we aren't afraid of playing anyone" BS.

Let everyone else play saban every year and see how they like it.

With our luck, our getting out of playing them every year would signal their downfall and we would then play the two best SECW opponents on a rotational basis. LOL.
