There is just as much info on what a dick Martin is but he seems to get a pass in all of this with some. Maybe he's learned to work and play well with others and maybe Currie has too. At this point it is likely best to take a wait and see approach rather than bashing Currie as being 100% responsible for Martin leaving Kstate. I still believe he left primarily because he was about to lose players because of the way he treated them. His subsequent suspensions in his first few years at SC certainly lend credibility to this point.

A former president of K-State pining about what could have been if mean old Currie hadn't run off a future great? Not doubting Martin issued that "I would have retired there" tripe, but it's fiction. K-State ain't a destination job! It's a waystop for a bigger gig...always has been. For reference Google ANOTHER first time Final Four coach...Oregon's Dana Altman. Was at Kansas State and bailed for freakin CREIGHTON! Was that on this source's watch also? Who was the monster in that situation?

Truth is somewhere in the middle imo, and all of this demonization discounts lessons learned on both sides. Currie learned and I'm damn sure Martin did. :)

I'm past it, nothing I can do for sure, Currie's the guy. Just heard about both articles and thought I'd share so Vols fans will know who they're getting in the AD starting tomorrow.

I'm not necessarily trying to dog Martin as much as I am offering an alternative opinion. I'm actually aligned with your thought that both have/had issues that led to Martin leaving Kstate. Just trying to bring a little balance.

Not judging your intentions. It was an unflattering article. The fact that it jibes with many early accounts of Frank Martin is ancillary.

After (rightfully) being suspended by Martin earlier this year, SCar's best player Sindarius Thornwell has said it was the best thing for him and made him a better man.

Martin is old school, goes the tough love route for sure, is in record saying kids still need and crave discipline. Seems to be working at SCar where his players, who are playing in the final 4 this weekend, by all accounts love him.

Eddie Fogler is the reason why he's at SC.

Tucked his tail first. Untucked a few times in his first few seasons at SC...learned to keep tucked. He won't stay at SC either...now that he's calmed down and is a better candidate.

I'm guessing he'd still be at KState had he been able to get along with his AD, who has history of difficulty getting along with his coaches.....Eddie Fogler notwithstanding.

He may not stay long at a program like SCar, you could be right Butchna....just goes to show how eager he was to get away from that petulant, tyrannical former AD of his. 😁

His relationship with Currie made it easier for Fogler to recruit him to SC, yes.

I hope Currie sees Tennessee as his dream job and gives it his all. I hope he does what is best for Tennessee and not for the administration or boosters. He should not appease people. If he puts in the work and learns from his past mistakes then we can begin to restore our program and start winning championships in all sports. I wish Currie the best and I hope he can bring Tennessee back to its glory days.

I'm kinda thinking making more money would go hand in hand with success on the field. Just my opinion though.
