You must be one of the media members, who has an ax to grind with Butch.

The whole ax grinding thing puts people in a difficult spot. Once you have been so outspoken about the coaching staff, what happens if they eventually get it together? It tends to put them in a hard place...want the Vols to do well, but then have to admit they were wrong...or look for every negative angle to justify their bias. Since most folks don't like admitting they are wrong, you know how that plays out.

If Tatum is not 290 by the start of the season redshirt him. He has crazy potential but a year in the weight room only and eating to get to the right size the right way can make him a much bigger prospect and better player down the line.

My guess is he is a rival fan/troll. My money would be on Florida because he is unknowledgeable about sports as most new money "fans" of Florida tend to be.

No. Unless you define "well" differently. As a realist, well to me and many Vol fans would be at least one SEC east title in 4 seasons. That has not happened. The staff has changed every year so what do negas have to admit they are wrong about? The only two coaches remaining from the first staff are Gillespie and Thig.

FTR, I believe this is his best staff.

He should redshirt this year anyway I would think. Unless we have another injury riddled year, we shouldn't need him.

I know you know nothing about actual football... And I know that you know that I know that I do. I have accepted this is why you won't respond to me. That's fine. However, Sammy Watkins lack of production has nothing to do with talent and everything to do with injuries... OBJ got confident that is the difference between him and a lot of other guys... He has great hands, runs great routes, and is confident... Antonio callaway can be very good, however he has made some pretty poor decision. I don't just say stupid sh&@ on here to get attention, so I can not say for sure where all of them will end up because I haven't watched tape... (And no you haven't either)

It's been fun... Signed a person that knows his sh$&
to: a person that doesn't... (Thanks for your time)[/QUOTE

Maybe the reason people don't respond to your messages is that your kinda a Di*k. Maybe just food for thought. How do you know who is who on here? How would you know what his football IQ is?

How do we know that your not some pimple faced kid using his dads VN account to just spout off some garb you found on the interwebs? You think you're the only one on here that knows their Sh*t when talking football. You would be suprised how many of us are former Players at "ALL" levels.

Maybe next time don't be such a douche bag and have some sense of comradery for all things VOLS, instead of calling a guys football knowledge into question. We are all family here. If you don't want to be part of that then exit 👈🏻.

Meh. I'm one of those who think Butch is a decent coach but has peaked at the University of Tennessee. I will be happy to be wrong if it works out that I am.

I hate how this season is playing out. It finally looked like we were making progress, but the pitching in league games so far has been terrible. We will see how the season plays out, but I agree, it does not look good at all.

I agree. This has been par for the course in his tenure though. Tantalizing start followed by mediocrity or worse in league play. Too bad. He has a great background but he's had enough time to turn this thing around. No excuses when you recruit top 20 classes and others in the conference with less than we have play consistent competent, competitive baseball.

That's not what I asked you... Explain to us what you saw....

My point is... We are healthy now so you can expect a whole lot better defense... Injuries matter... However, we did play bad defense at times but it wasn't the scheme... More than the DLine hurt us, the injuries to the LB's hurt us... Whenever you have D Line injuries your "LB'ers" turn into small D Linemen that have to plug their run fits... (Guys having to fend of blocks from 300 pound linemen that the usually don't have to)
So whenever you have injuries to your LB's you also have guys fitting wrong whether it is the LB didn't scrape or exchange positions properly because of a block a D linemen received that told that said LBer to exchange his postion for the D Linemen that just got blocked out of his hole... It's a combination of things but it was never about scheme with this defense... And even if you believe everything talking heads say as pertaining to what the (insert blank here) should do not EVEN one of them said anything about scheme as if they did then they don't know what they are talking about....
Scheme= Coach
Injuries= having kids that aren't ready thrust into said scheme
^= what you saw on Saturdays...
This^ =Mic drop 🎤

Good post

My favorite team is the vols but I also pull for the Tide, never been a gator fan. I do enjoy Kentucky basketball as well.

I strongly feel like last year was an outlier for CBJ. There were cancers in the locker room that are no longer on the team. We were decimated by injuries (I know it's been harped on, but it's true). The permanent captains was a fail because when they went down, it affected the team leadership and morale. And oddly, the team was undisciplined from the beginning, which even the negas here have to admit is uncharacteristic of Butch Jones' teams.

I have never seen anything that would cause me to say CBJ is a world beater. But he's made improvements in every facet, on and off the field, of our team over his first 3 years here. I'll give him a pass for last year, and see if we can't get back on the upward track in 2017.

Agree completely

If Hurd doesn't quit on the team, we go 10-2 last year, even with injuries. With or without Hurd, if we have an actual DT playing late in the season, we go at least 9-3. Both of those issues are Butch's responsibility, but are they really evidence of his limitations? I'm not convinced.

Most of the negative viewpoints are built on the premise that CBJ is stubborn, unchanging, and cannot be taught. While oft repeated, that hasn't been proven to my satisfaction. He's clearly made mistakes, and he is clearly doing different things after doing so. I also think it is telling that he has been able to hire good coaches in spite of lots of bad press. I have no predictions, but this year is certainly going to be interesting.
