Wish we were there. We never will be tho until our coaches start recruiting. No excuse for that, we have as good of facilities as anyone. We should be one of the premier basketball teams in the conference but recruiting isn't there

IMO, we will be if CRB is given the same time (5 seasons) that Frank Martin was given. He has a proven system and has improved the roster. If Fulk had stayed healthy they could have added 3-4 wins. They addressed the lack of inside game with the guys coming in. With Parker leaving a spot opened and they are shopping for a juco/grad transfer for PG that can also score. If successful that shores up the remaining hole in the roster.

Good point, they are also after that 5 star in state pg, would be huge if we landed him

I am looking forward to how the D comes together with the reworked staff. Warren and Hoke know how to develop guys. Shoop gets to finish installing his D. I expect some major improvement in play in the secondary along with a stronger D line. Barnett is a huge loss, but if the injury bug stays away I have a feeling the D-line will be holding its own freeing up the LB's to do their thing. Rock is the key to help with the strength and injury issues.

If Z was as good as he thought he was Butch would have made him OC instead of Debord and Scott. Player/coach/coach relations matter. Glad he loves his family. Good luck to him with the Bears. Welcome, Coach Beard.

Recruiting?

Did you see some of the freshman we had that played this year?

Williams.....Bone....and Bowden. Didn't get to see much of Fulkerson because of injury.

This young team full of mostly FR and SO....took some really good teams down to the wire like UNC and Oregon...and Hung with Wisconsin and Gonzaga...

The recruiting is fine. If he doesn't get to the tournament next year with this team then we should start worrying.

They played tough for sure, but they still lost. Wouldn't you rather have Malik Monk?

It isn't that, but there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to get some of those guys. Florida is good at football AND basketball, why can't we be? Why settle for saying oh we could never recruit like that? Why can't we?

We can be if these young guys continue to develop. They have talent, and Barnes took a different approach than he did before. I agree with Vols4us that he will be fine if he is given 5 years. Williams, Bowden, and Bone can become all SEC type players. Fulkerson will be the glue guy.

I think we can be good, don't get me wrong, especially with adding Pons. But I'd like to see more recruiting of guys like Pons and other elite players. I want championships, i hate being on the outside watching other SEC teams win all the time

What do you mean? Butch is doing great! Here we are almost 2 months into the recruiting season and we have no 3 stars yet.:)

I really think he clashed with Martinez. That's speculation on my part but it makes a ton of sense, the way he seemed to be in the doghouse most of the season.

Florida has a natural recruiting base that we don't. It goes for football, basketball, baseball, and softball. Does it mean we can't out recruit them? No. But they will on a long term basis. The state of TN is getting much better in football. They also also recruit more out of state in basketball. But it is still something that we have to overcome.

False he loves TN. He just has his own job to take care of and he and Butch got Into it during that interview process. His problem isn't with TN

It's odd seeing the dichotomy between the fan's perspective and the coaching community on some of our precious coaches. Martinez and Azzanni are fairly well respected by a lot of coaches. You would think they are hacks from people on here.
