He does, but Basilio was more talking about fit in our system. I don't know if I buy that Dormady could not run our offense, but I prefer a DT at QB, but that's just me. Dormady could be a great SEC QB, it's why Bama wanted him
I like the sound of this. I really think the future is bright:

Additionally, I believe its Jones knowing Rock Gullickson and the man Gullickson brought with him, most recently UC-Davis head S&C coach John Krasinski who knows Gullickson from their time at Rutgers and also owns experience at Cal-Berkeley as head of S&C as well as time at Oregon, have pushed this team and prepared this team in the proper manner this offseason.
Watching all the first day highlights, QD just looks the part of a starting quarterback right now. He's calm and throws a beautiful ball with very little effort. He's my starting QB if I had to choose at this moment. I have a feeling this will change in the coming weeks. Guarantano looks great but very anxious and will need to relax. Where he will shine is when pads come on and defensive lineman start chasing him.
Man this sounds good:

The more I read the more I think it's gonna be Dormady. At least initially. Long time til August though.
But Jones has already shown that he will go with the slower less talented QB who isn't a fit in his system during the Worley years. Jones wants a QB he can trust. It's why he was reluctant to play Dobbs even though he was the best fit from the moment he stepped on campus.
If JG wants the starting job then he will need to prove he can do all the little things. Dormady is going to have a leg up on him there having two more years experience in the system and actual playing time.
This isn't true and has been discussed ad nauseam. Dobbs was promised a redshirt year because he had a five year degree program. You keep doing you though.

I think Butch is really looking forward to this season. IMO he knows his job is safe regardless of what happens (save a total disaster) and that he's probably looking at a year where it will be viewed that he/his team overachieved. Perhaps he knows the OL will be incredibly stout and the offense won't miss a beat with JG/QD and Kelly running the show.
Plus, he has survived a year where the Vols were squarely in the spotlight for the first 7 weeks of the season (near disaster vs App State, biggest football game ever, first win vs UF in 11 years, Hail Mary vs UGA, dramatic OT game vs A&M, and then getting slaughtered by Bama). That's rough on a coach with a fanbase as starved for success as Tennessee and a local/national media that was ready to pounce on any missteps.
In 2017, no one will really be paying attention to Tennessee. The spotlight in the East will be on Georgia. Perfect year to sneak into Atlanta or finish with a double digit win total.
I also love how we are all saying how good one QB looks compared to the other and the traits we like about each when we watched 40 seconds of grainy video shot from an iPhone 5s
Lol.
Lane Kiffin just can't get out of his own way.
Getting sued for fraud after he "deliberately misled a coach regarding a job on the FAU staff in order to benefit from his family relationship with a prospect."

He did in previous seasons, maybe a QB Coach can fix that though.
You have to admit though that both of these guys throw some beautiful passes. I do believe saying one starting over the other is a fireable offense is a touch over the top.
