Funny thing is from all the talk JG is a better passer. That was the talk all last fall. His arm and ball placement were all the talk not his legs.

I think the best thing for the program is for JG to be that transcending talent that we hope for. When you hear guys like Whitfield praising him, not really for his legs, but for his arm talent, it makes me optimistic. What really gets me excited is the way he talked about his presence. He carries himself like an elite QB.

With that said, if QD wins the job I think that will mean he is pretty dadgum good too.

As long as JG doesn't transfer I'm good with however it plays out.

If QD wins the job I'll prep for a new coach personally.

Good QB yes, Heisman candidate is TBD. I think the best candidate is the starter at RB. 😎

I'm just saying that's the way people are talking about him like he could be a transcendent talent with his arm and athletic ability. Guys at the opening and Whitefield and word out of practice has been that kind of talk, like people just are amazed by him

So the deep ball in the bowl game was a jump ball?

What about the UT-CHATT game?

Or Malone in stride against Florida?

Also had dimes against Georgia.

Missouri he dropped another bomb in there.

You all severely undervalued Dobbs I see.
I thought Dobbs improved his areas of weakness this past year tremendously. If he could have been just a little more consistent and the defense held up this past year would have been special.

Oh I know, I expect him to do numbers but his RB is SPECIAL. And he has a veteran line in front of him.

I hope Dormady is really good. I would love it for the guy if he gets a chance to play. But I'm just not sure I would love it if it happens while Guarantano is on the sidelines.

To me, Dormady could open some things up on offense for the WR's. But if he's not gonna be able to move the chains with his legs every now and then (and I know people keep saying he can run but I'll believe it when I see it), then he has to be leaps and bounds better as a passer. Nothing we know about both players suggests this is the case.

Looking forward to finally seeing them compete though. We'll have this settled soon enough. But man. If we have to watch a whole season with JG as the backup I'm gonna be real bummed.

JG can probably open it up more as a passer with a better arm and mobility. Plus he's accurate too. I hope he plays smart all Spring and takes the job.

The biggest issue with the QB competition is CBJ's resiliency factor. QBs are like thoroughbred horses. If they get spooked too early in their development, many won't recover their confidence right away. They'll start second guessing, forcing throws and making bad decisions. It will sometimes take years for them to recover and maybe even a change in teams or coaches (See Nate Peterman). QD has been under the lights. He's been hit enough to know how it feels and probably has the best chance to recover from a big mistake. JG may be one of those guys with the natural ability to snap and clear but you won't really, really know that until that first blind side sack or obvious bad read that turns into a pick 6.
Based on that, my prediction is we will see QD listed as the number one toward the end of fall camp. We may even see JG and SJ listed as 2a and 2b. QD will start against GT and I would suggest CBJ won't even evaluate him until after the Florida game (no way he will ever start of RSF against Florida again if he can help it). He'll keep the job as long as he is lighting up the scoreboard and stays healthy. JG will get playing time but will be brought along slowly so as not to spook him too early. If and when he replaces QD will be determined by QD's play and health.

No way this can happen if JG is better. My fear with JG is his history with injury. He has to be able to stay healthy.

How has QD been hit enough? I'm just wondering how. IYO

This all sounds very plausible (I disagree that QD has already been "under the lights" btw, in the sense that his game time hasn't been any more meaningful than a scrimmage) and will probably play out that way, unless...... JG is just too good to keep off the field.

Plus we have the Larry Scott factor. I fully believe coach Scott will have a big say in this. I have no clue how aggressive or conservative he will be handling it.
