Naturally, some stuff got left on the cutting table for the long feature on Larry Scott. I thought about saving a few nuggets for another story, but instead I'll just share here on the board.
Several folks I talked to, both quoted and not, in the piece raved about Scott's strength as communicator. Others noted his plans to build the offense around his players and not a pre-established philosophy.
Both LaVaar Scott and Mike Canales said almost the exact same thing about how Larry will approach this spring and the early fall.
CANALES: "One thing that Larry's learned throughout the years is youve got to play to your players strengths. Is it our OL right now with all their experience? Yes. So lets lean heavily on the offensive line and be able to find out and establish the quarterback position."
LAVAAR: "Hes going to look at these guys in the spring and really play to their strengths. Hes not going to be someone who says, Ok. This is what I like to do and Im going to make you do it. Once they figure out which quarterback theyre going to go with, then theyll have a better idea on which way theyre going to go. I think those quarterbacks are a little bit different, bring a little bit different elements to the game."
