Mine goes like this for the main ones:

24/7
Scout
ESPN
Bleacher Report (technically not a true recruiting site)
Rivals

There is a reason that Scout has gone broke and is being bought out. They are probably the worst of the lot. Danny Parker seems solid but nothing makes him stand out compared to Hubbs, Fortenbury, or Callahan. I used to look at their free board when Tennessee stud posted on there, but that is literally all they've ever really had going for them.

No what Glitch? Giving you my opinion doesn't seem to work with you. You're going to disagree no matter what with me bud.

No. As in, you are wrong. It wasn't meant to be a discussion. Sorry if I gave that impression.

tony, your opinion that scout is a solid recruiting site is equivalent to my opinion that I can dunk a basketball on a 10ft rim. I can have that opinion in my head all I want. But all facts say otherwise and when I try to prove it's true I am going to embarrass myself and fall on my face. Coincidentally, that sounds similar to what happens when you try to prove your opinion that scout has solid recruiting info.

I did not say Scout was a solid recruiting site. I said they were decent compared to Rivals but they all have their flaws period.

fair question...after a thorough 2-3 second scan of the top 15 teams using a comparative analysis formula, er off the top of my head id say 3-5.

Seriously, this has the same feel to it last years class did. When Butch came in here there was a lot of excitement...seemed like something was always going on to generate excitement. Some have said Butch has already conceded inhis own mind. I hope that isnt true.

i will say this after a solid bowl win and banner in state year we could have closed better in my mind last year for sure. Not sure of the political distractions in athletic dept; dont care. All i see is a team we beat in Florida move past us in the rankings, not to mention Uga. Yes im basing this off Florida. Any other coach coulda used that momentum and capitalize on it.

Now, our 1.15 mil DC doesnt seem to want to get out there either. I could just be unaware. Butch and gang will need to step it up. We have some key areas we need good players.

Do you remember who our first two commitments for the 2017 class were? How can you say it has the same feel after we are still so far away from signing day?

A 5 star and a 4 star commitment for 2018. It's a better start by a long shot

Id rank them like so...

1a. 247
1b. Rivals
3. GFW
4. ESPN
5. de1
6. Breakerboy
7. 90% of posters who participate in this subforum.
8. terrypedigo
9. Scout
10. RankByLolffers

Honorable mention: tonybologna

Just kidding, sort of. Danny Parker is the one saving grace that Scout has for Vol fans. The majority of their fan websites and sports writers are atrocious. Besides a few regional basketball writers/talent evaluators, Scout is far behind the competition. Hence the bankruptcy...

On the day Kevin Beard was hired, coach Butch Jones called Johnson and had the entire offensive staff speak to him, including introductions by Beard and quality control assistant Tony Sorrentino. In the last few weeks, Beard and Johnson have had a couple “30-45 minute” chats, exchanging stories, backgrounds and general life updates.

“We’ve talked a lot lately,” Johnson said. “We’ve definitely got to know each other. We’re definitely forming a relationship.” “He explained to me what his style was, how he felt I could use it,” Johnson said. “He’s not worried about me coming to Tennessee. He wants me to do what’s best for me, but he thinks that he can definitely take me to the next level with (the Vols).”

Although Johnson couldn’t attend either of Tennessee’s recent Junior Days, Jones wanted the receiver to hear the same message he later delivered to a room full of in-state prospects. Tennessee’s coach called Johnson and previewed his plans on Saturday morning. "The day that I missed that Junior Day, he called me and talked to me about it and told me that he was going to do that,” Johnson explained. “How if he could get all the in-state guys together, just that group alone could do some special things. “We have a huge group message from all the in-state recruits now. We’re all constantly talking. We’re all constantly texting, playing the iPhone games, all that. They’ve definitely started to make it more of a pitch to us as a group.”

“I knew a lot of those guys even before high school. Cade (Mays) and I played football teams together when we were younger,” he said. “I’ve known Brant (Lawless) since I was in 3rd-grade, playing basketball with him. We’re super close. “Brendon Harris, I’ve played against him, so a lot of those guys I already knew. Really just to get closer with them and just have a relationship with them and know what they’re thinking, why they’re thinking. For all of us to have a bond is something that’s definitely important.”

“I know for sure that before my season, I’m going to narrow it down to a Top 5,” he said. “Then, take my official visits and commit before Signing Day. It might be before my season ends, but I don’t know. I know for sure I’m going to make a Top 5 this summer.”

I love that we are selling a group pitch.

UGA has had a lot of success doing it. It's our turn now.

thank the heavens we have a recruiter on the team. Ive been pretty hard on CBJ for last years swamp donkey class, our cruiting lack excitment. None of the updates had that factor of us doing anything creative, or, outside the box.

The instate guy messaging deal has that it factor. Good for them! Even if the guys go elsewhere, im just happy to hear they're going after in staye guys, and, drumming up excitement.

One of the Vols’ longtime top in-state targets, Johnson said he has continued talking “a ton lately” with Tennessee coach Butch Jones’ staff, and he has spent the past several weeks getting to know Azzanni’s replacement, first-year Vols wide receivers coach Kevin Beard.

Johnson said he now “definitely” hears “every day” from the Beard and other coaches at Tennessee, which has shown him that he’s “still a big-time target for them,” and his home-state school remains “one of the top schools” he’s considering.

“I mean, I was interested to see who they were going to hire as the next receivers coach and what his body of work was going to be. And (Azzanni) was the guy who had recruited me the most,” said Johnson[.] But I think, as soon as that sort of happened, their other coaches really started to pick up on me. Coach Scott was texting me a lot then. Coach Jones would text me all the time. He kept me in the loop when he was talking about who he was going to hire and stuff. Even though Coach Azzanni had been sort of mainly the only one recruiting me, they sort of picked it up as a staff. And, also, Coach Beard definitely made it obvious that they want me there, and we have a really good relationship.”

“We haven’t really talked about what he sees in me as a receiver and what he’s going to want me to play as much as Coach Z and I did. But he’s definitely let me know that he wants me on board,” Johnson said of Beard. He’s told me numerous times that they need me there and he definitely wants me to come, and that they’re really hoping I come there and that I’m a big priority for them. He’s definitely made it a point to know that I’m still a big-time target for them.”

“They’re definitely one of the top schools,” Johnson said. “I mean, they were one of the first people to show interest, and they haven’t changed in any way. They’ve definitely stayed high on me, and that means a lot, and they’re an in-state team. They’ll be high on the list and they’ll have a shot. We’ll just see where else I get offers from and where else I really like it at the time.”

- 247 (Callahan)

Plans to narrow his list to a top 5 before his senior year and plans to commit at some point during his senior year.

WR is filling up quickly. I bet we don't land cam. His tweet made it seem like he was surprised that we took another WR
