Vols trending Down (247 article)

We understand, it doesn't fit your narrative. But as you tell other people when they comment on your negativity threads, "you don't want to read it, then don't open it."

And we understand, it does fit your narrative.

I'm sorry Shepherd's wife hasn't met Haney and that the less than flattering article he wrote has caused Callahan and Rucker some heartburn, but it doesn't mean what Haney wrote wasn't accurate. He wasn't the only source saying there were issues last year.....do you recall Hurd, Preston Williams and Kongbo? And I wonder why what had been a very disciplined team the last 3 years suddenly was one of the most undisciplined, oftentimes disinterested, and most penalized teams in the country that greatly underachieved with its season's goals on the line....twice.

And trust me, had I know this was you dredging up this thread again I wouldn't have clicked on it.....since it's been dormant for 3 months, I didn't even recall what this thread was in reference to.

Laughable you would list Hurd and williams as the gospel regarding our team. I am proud that Butch told them we have had enough of your BS so move on. I guess you'd rather him kiss their azz and piss off the other 83 players.

And who cares if their wives haven't met? I have great friends through work that have never met my wife. Smh

Hurd and Williams and Kongbo and our undisciplined play on the field and the train wreck that was our defense under Shoop (who came to us with impeccable credentials) were symptoms of dysfunction/issues within the program. Perhaps if Jones had handled those things better, much better, we wouldn't have had such a disappointing 2016 season.

Don't care if you don't know coworkers wives, just like I don't care that Shepherd made a point of the fact Haney hadn't met his in the article.....not sure why he mentioned it, doesn't mean squat, just like the rest of what he wrote. Shake your head all you want...I can't see you.

If you can't name your sources to articles you should not print them. I just gives so called journalist a license to write anything they want without retribution except for being called out. It's a problem with the many in the media world, they fantasize a story and fabricate a source by saying they wish to remain unnamed. Pitiful journalist and I don't give the story any credence at all. GBO!!!!

As you accurately point out, Butch teams previous 3 years, if anything, were disciplined. think the distraction of the team chemistry was an absolute factor last season...along with injuries (s/c). Hope we have both of these solved. If we do, think will be fine...if not, going to be a long season.

Since he replaced so many new coaches, I'm sure the fashionable excuse of the 2017 season will be "the new coaches haven't meshed yet, just give it time"...

The pattern is that every year, it's one thing or another that keeps CBJ from winning, but he somehow remains blameless in all facets.

Wow if true - those involved could be sued.

There is a difference between being disappointed and being outraged. I believe while a lot of fans are disappointed with the way 2016 turned out - the number that are actually outraged is just a few that for some reason won't or can't move on. Must be sad to be them.

Personally I believe the media that surrounds UT want to believe they are powerful enough to influence decisions that are made. Well when you constantly sensationalize every negative thing you can find - eventually folks just get tired of it - and if you keep on after that - it actually has the exact opposite effect.

IMO, there are folks in the media that have dug themselves into a deep hole and as such have lost the trust from the University in their ability to tell a true and balanced story. The way they have handled everything from the lawsuit, the ups / downs of the season to the AD search has showed their incompetence of being able to objectively report on UT.

Butch is nowhere near blameless. Yet he doesnt deserve ALL the blame. Some just want to blame the coach for everything. Thats just profoundly dumb.

I think the article was a cheap shots of sorts because there is no way for Jones to defend himself. Saying that, it echos what a majority of people are thinking.

Note:/ Hard for me to give it credit because of so many "anonamous" sources.

This is really relevant now versus the 70's & 80's. When you had to get a job at a reputable newspaper or magazine to write an article. Back then if you where not credible you just gave up and got a real job. Now there so many outlets everyone is a hack. It's really hurt the whole media business not just print.

you realize, the story has become the story? this is all just dumb. reporters are now mad at each other? spilling dirt on each other?

at least has to make you wonder, who has the culture problem, really......?

just don't forget what these guys' purpose is....and all this thread proves is that the completed the mission.

From the RF;

Here's the latest from 247, which is not much other than an excuse:

Please do not take our delay as us not caring and being aloof to yall. Things can just take an unnecessarily long time in corporate land

Sounds like they are asking upper CBS management to take some disciplinary action against Haney now.

You really believe the ''majority" of people are thinking that Butch would have been fired with a stable AD, or just the usual FF whiners that wish Butch would be fired?
