I posted something like this a while back but got burned. I think it would be a good idea to write incentives into contracts. Say if Butch has a 6 million salary, he gets 2 just for finishing the season, an extra 2 for winning the East, and an extra 2 for winning the SEC or something along those lines. If he doesn't accomplish the goals, he only gets 2 million for the season.
I'm ok with the full years pay, it's the asinine buyouts for failures worthy of being fired, that amaze me.
Let them make ridiculous amounts of money for succeeding as you suggested (huge incentives for success) but rewarding people for failure is just a bad business model in any profession.
