Had Kiffin Stayed

On the field we would be ahead of where we are at. Off the field who knows.......

We'd be behind both on and off the field, because off the field we'd be nailed so badly it would affect the on the field product.

Kiffin leaving after a year was a blessing in disguise. The program was already in a rut when he was hired, and his departure continued that rut for about another 4-5 years, but we are in a better spot today than we would have been if he stayed.

I have almost no doubt that if Kiffin didn't leave after one year, he wouldn't be here today either by virtue of him leaving for another job or Tennessee being forced to fire him because of sanctions. We probably would have received probation and might even still be on it.

Seriously, he was OC and NOT in control at Alabama! Nick would have fired him if he had a dirty finger nail! This is all part of his plan, I'm calling it now, Kiffin will have a winning season, beat at P5 team badly THEN COACH TOOTH GETS FIRED, and Kiffin is the NEW COACH of the Gators! 2120, Florida won't have a football program!

I know what position he held at Bama.

So.....

You're suggesting Bama runs a clean program?!?!?:lolabove:

With so much uproar pertaining to the new AD hire and Butch's lack luster coaching the last two-three years, how do you, VN experts, think the program would be right now?

I think Hammy would still be here.

I think the football program would be much, much better off! Would have beaten Bama at least once in the past seven years. But, we would have still lost a game or two each year we should have won.

Would have had more talent on the roster. (More attrition also)

After his initial push to get Tennessee on the map by way of attention, there would be no more secondary violations. (Hamilton stated that CLK told him he was going to do things to get the UT name back out there)

There would be no shortage of incidents or stories to talk about.

And finally, one of you great posters would probably have a stepson named Knox right now!
More former players in prison!

Because we had a post season ban and a roster gutted by scholarship reductions just like them too huh?

Sanctions had nothing to do with him taking a 2012 preseason ranked #1 USC team to an unranked finish. First team to do that since 1963.

Umm no it wouldn't lol. That's how you end up with booger eating drunks for Head Football Coaches. Or maybe we go back to the Pony Express at SMU. I'm sure they would take Dooley over sanctions any day of the week.
Dooley was a damn sanction.

Kiffin is an absolute scumbag BUT he's a great offensive coach and great recruiter. Now most likely we ended up in hot water with the NCAA but I still could see us having a more talented team than the one Dooley left for Butch. The timing of Kiffin leaving basically gave Tennessee very little options as far as quality coaches.

That's where leadership is needed and that's why Hamilton failed so miserably. It was a tough situation, everyone knew that the 2010 was going to be a tough and that's why nobody wanted the job. The smart move would've been keeping Kippy as an interim coach for the 2010 season.

So dumb and so tired. Kiffin couldn't cut in in the PAC as the coach of its flagship program. What makes you think he could catch up to Saban? No chance.

Kiffin is not the great coach you worshippers make him out to be. He will drift into oblivion in Florida.

Sorry, should've been more clear. Satan would have fired him if it could've been proven that anything he said or did made Nicky, or the ALABASTARDS looked bad or gave HIM a dirty finger nail!

Kiffin would be in the middle of serving a 10 year show cause. And Tennessee would be heavily sanctioned and enjoying a bowl ban.

What could have been. It would have been a glorious run with Orgeron and the gang here. Trash talking, strutting, limousine riding, and all that. He ran Meyer out of the league after one season. Might of run Saban out after 2-3 more.

Narcotics and other illegal drugs are a terrible thing. Get yourself into rehab...soon.

If that SOB snake had stayed, we would most certainly be on probation, he would have 30+ paternity suits pending against him across the SEC, every convenience store in Knoxville would have bars on the windows, all players would have some form of "thug life" tattooed on their bodies, and we would be the new Miami for most convicted felons on the roster.

Just say NO to drugs, son. They destroy brains every day.

You're probably right. People tend to forget how wild things were during Kiffin's time in Knoxville and not wild in a good way.

Just imagine a team full of Janzen Jacksons and NuKeese Richardsons. Talented players yes, but they don't give prison passes to practice and play football.

I believe it was Ed Orgeron who said we weren't trying to recruit choir boys. After all the arrests, both before and after Kiffin, I wouldn't mind if every last signee has to use all his elective hours taking voice.

1. We would be on probation
2. Kiffin would have a show cause
3. Kiffin would have a impregnated a coed.
4. Orgeron would have done a terrible commercial for a local business that no one could understand.
5. Dooley probably would have never came due to sanctions. (The lone bright spot)

Why are yall in denial?? If Lane had not left for his dream job,we would be #2 behind ma in the nation now, with a Naty or 3. I have been saying this all along. Iunderstand his departure. If I was Hc at Ohio St and the UT jobcame calling, see ya butch eyes! It was simply bad timing in the NCAA universe. I am not mad and see it truthfully as the OP.
