ummm...his 40 time wasn't bad for a DE that is not sick, much less one that is sick. I believe the commentators even said it was probably more likely a 4.7ish if he wasn't sick.

I understand 40 times pretty well. I think Dobbs and Kamara both put up good times. Barnett not so much.

Now, is that because he's sick? I think so and I hope he improves it for pro day.

A 4.88 40 is a bad time for a DE? Sick or not, that is a good time. How did Barnett's time compare to the other DEs?

Edit: I was wrong. Barnett was 14th among the DL. Garrett ran a 4.64. However, Barnett showed toughness and desire to run even though sick. That will carry well with the scouts. Pro day performance could help overcome yesterday's time.

Just stop. He's a DL. Look at the 2015 Draft 40 times for the DL. With only a few freak exceptions, most of the DL run 4.7 or greater. Only a few were below that and those were personal best times for most of them.

4.88 is not a bad time, it's just not a good time either. I was hoping 4.75ish for him.

It's an average time for a DL at his weight. Should get a better overall sample at the pro day.

By your own link, Barnett would have been the 3rd slowest guy at that years combine for guys under 260. Weight matters when comparing times.

Listen, it's an extremely small piece of the overall puzzle. Barnett will be fine and likely drafted middle of the 1st round. (Tampa or Miami would be good fits for him) I was hoping he would run a little better.

His broad and vertical will also be parts of that puzzle today.

On another note, Barnett looks smooth in his directional work. Think he's showing teams that he can stand up from time to time and be effective.
