Albert Haynesworth rants on AD hire

Fulmer is the ultimate faux-sympathetic figure. Part of you wants to feel sorry for him on the surface, because I do think he loves the University, but the more you find out about the particulars of situations he's been involved in you see that he's a pretty conniving guy.

Fulmer is a politician. Great coach but not a great person.

credibility is shot when you put alabama and kentucky on the same level as duke academically.

Athletics should not be above academics in an educational environment.

But it should be understood that without the achievements of the football program and general neyland, the academic side would have continued to be funded at an extremely poor level by nashville as a consequence of the regional bitterness left behind by the civil war in tennessee.

General neyland created a high tide that lifted all boats, academics included, on the hill. Those who used to run the university of tennessee, from dougherty to holt to reese to johnson, understood that history very well and gave the athletic side a proper environment to compete in.

We have lacked that leadership and understanding of the relationship between athletics and academics at tennessee for decades now.

None of that, however, is the fault of mr. Currie. I wish him all the good fortune in the world. Considering the people who run our university, he'll be needing all of that and more.

i did not put Alabama or Kentucky on the same level as duke academically! I sighted three examples of schools that are great at both and equal important.therefore, the credibilty of your previous post is shot! Which is unfortunate since i agree with everything else you said and wish I could communicate it as effectively!

You're completely overplaying this angle.

The problem is that the sidewalk alumni don't even care if they hold classes as long as they win. Meanwhile the people that actually have degrees would like to think their diploma means something.
I have a degree from UT! Also my parents attended Belmont and they are retired educators. They love UT sports and they care very much about attending classes.

So you think my parents have a right to an opinion and my soldier brother who does not have a degree is an idiot who doesn't understand the importance of an education and only the final score? Wow!

Most fanbases will appear happy when an AD is changed. Most do not understand what an AD even does and they place irrational blame on them. Dave Hart was a decent AD, but you would never know it by reading VN.

how decent was he ?

you do remember when he took apart Dooleys defense ?

sent Wilcox and company off ? let them all know they had a 1 year contract and then Sal was hired, with a good contract ?

So he can fire a coach, that's good. More importantly, can he hire great ones? He's not shown that yet and that's by far the most important part of his job as AD

AS TO HIRING COACHES--
"Can he hire great ones?"

You gotta agree, the very first step in hiring a great coach is creating a vacancy! :hi:

Maybe if Albert spent as much time being a faithful father and partner as he did ranting about an AD search he wasn't really interested in, he wouldn't have children with so many different women.

There really is a lot you don't know there and are therefore making irrational decisions against Hart
