Kamara Showing Out

Malone ran 4.49 in high school as a skinny kid. Hopefully he can improve on that now. I think he can get that down to the 4.38-4.44 range.

Dobbs should be in the 4.48-4.54 range.

Cam should be in the 4.42-4.48 range.

HS times are generally inaccurate

I'm tired of beating on D4H. So here, great tweet from Bucky Brooks on AK....

He will walk out of Indy as the biggest winner in RB class. He crushed the interviews. High football IQ & great personality..

Two things:

1. HS 40 times are notoriously off. I was told I ran a 4.69 in HS. The only time I've ran that fast was after bad Mexican food.

2. Even if that's not the case, the track in Indy is slow. That's why a lot of people run better times at their pro days.

The other posters on that site trusted him like some of the insiders here. I'm assuming that's because he's delivered truthful information in the past.

That still doesn't confirm anything. For example, LWS said a mnoth and a half ago, Fulmer would soon be named AD. That didn't pan out, just like 90% or more of the rumors we see posted here daily.

Something tells me you just believe it because you want to believe it. If he said the Cleveland board had Kamara as a 5th round pick, you'd have just called BS and moved on about your business until you found something you wanted to believe.

Over 40 yards? Sure.

But I think in the 40 CJ woulda got him.

For guys like Bolt who are so tall, they reach that top end not as fast as someone like CJ.

A human being, particularly a top level athlete, is going to reach his top speed well before 40 yards.

All this talk about a 100 meter runner vs a 40 yard runner. That's a HUGE difference and one would train completely different for each event. Usain bolt would probably get beat by many of the fastest guys in the NFL during the first 40 yards, but where Bolt makes his money is the last 50 meters. There is simply no one faster on earth during that time

That kinda surprises me honestly. The interviews are where I really worried for him. He just seems to have one of those, for lack of a better term, "peculiar/ecentric personalities". Not Arian Foster-level weird, but I could see the dreads, nose ring, gold teeth, etc. turning some people off. Not at all because he's a bad person, but because some people just can't see past that stuff and rely on assumptions.

If he killed it in the interviews, that is awesome for him, because physically, he checks every box. He may have made himself some money over the past couple days. Good for him.

I think some are way too obsessed with what former vols do after Ut. I mean ill root for em over other guys if all other things are equal. .but my main concern is what they do while they r here. Kamara is an example of bad decision making on the coaches. They should have recognized the talent. No way should a high draft pick like him been a backup at any time. Its obvious. They simply didn't see it ..which to me is scary. Who else are they missing?

Yup.

Bolt is who he is for what he does in the last 50 meters of the 100.

He's never been the fastest guy out of the blocks.

The first 30m of the 100m race is about covering ground......what makes Usain bolt so fast is that he not only has the leg span so that he can cover ground but he actually has the turnover with the leg span for the acceleration. By his God given size he has an advantage at top speed over someone like AK or Tyson Gay that are in the 5'10" range.

I am the biggest Michael Johnson fan ever, and hate it that Usain finally got his 200m record, but Usain Bolt is by far the fastest man under 400m in any race ever.

This is a common misconception. On his WR Bolt was already in the lead at the 20m split. Also, I don't know if anyone has ever run a faster 40m split.

Our guy is badass but talking bad about Fournette is a bad look. He absolutely trucked SEC defenders on a regular basis.

??

Kamara has probably had the best combine of all the RBs. You do know there are other events than the 40 right? He has only secured his position as a late 1st/ early 2nd pick.

He was getting late 1st/early 2nd grades because scouts were banking on him doing better than an average of 4.59 in the 40. 40 matters too much for RBs for that not to hurt him. His jumps were awesome, but they aren't going to outweigh the 40 time. His bench press was also bad (which doesn't matter a ton, but still hurts).

Yeah, but if you can reach top speed at 15 yards, you have an advantage over somebody who reaches top speed at 30 yards.

Go back and watch all of his gold medal runs and every single analyst will say the same thing...

Usain Bolt makes up his slows starts in the last 50 meters. That one run may have been different, but the majority of the time he's a slow starter and finishes strong

I don't think his 40 time will hurt him. If he had ran a 4.6 or 4.7 then definitely. 4.5 is plenty fast enough.

I do find it hilarious that D4H thinks Dobbs is faster than Kamara though.

Bolt doesn't generally have good "reaction time" starts. This has nothing to do with how fast he's capable of actually running once he starts, you know, actually running. If he gets his reaction time even remotely right he's right there with anyone even at the shorter distances and is simply by himself toward the top. Check this out, and note it's not even his 9.58.

From Pro Football Focus....

Kamara a Top Combine Performer

Alvin Kamara, RB, Tennessee
While Kamara’s 4.56-second 40-yard-dash time doesn’t jump off the page, his 10’ 9” broad jump and 39.5″ vertical jump were both the best in the class. Both drills show the lower-body explosiveness that allowed Kamara to break 54 tackles on only 209 carries and another 36 on 75 receptions—an exceptional total compared to his peers. His work as a receiver may be the best part of Kamara’s game, and his 82.2 grade ranked 11th in that department last season. His explosion matched the strong production we saw on tape, and he will provide an excellent run/pass mismatch at the next level.

So from what I can see his times during the last half of the 100 are faster than most all other gold medal winners before him? That's what I've been saying the whole time, he's faster that everyone else in the last half of the race

I do find it hilarious that D4H thinks Dobbs is faster than Kamara though.

Dobbs has never been caught from behind. Kamara has been caught several times.

Dobbs has less initial burst than Kamara but better long range speed.

I think he runs a faster 40.

LOL.

His combine performance raised his stock. An average 40 didn't hurt him one bit.

Alvin is a surefire first rounder.
