Nope, just a retired UT grad who you could call a booster who ran a business with over 300 employees. I love the University as much as anyone and I give UT the credit for my being able to come from a poor background and have a measure of success.

Some UT fans are so looney and unrealistic. We were hiring a new chancellor AND a new AD. Obviously they weren't going to make a decision on the new AD hire until the new chancellor starting working and was heavily involved in the process. The administration's number goal isnt to try to pacify the fanbase with a swift hire. They had to get both of these hires right.

And the Fulmer pipe dream was never going to happen. Like the crazy infactuation with Gruden, who was never a real possibility. Fulmer was forced out the door in 2008, why in the heck were people seriously thinking that was really going to happen?

I know a lot of you are pleased about all this, but I need to vent. That was the weirdest press conference I have ever seen. I was not impressed with either Davenport or Currie, but did anyone else think she was way out there? She didn't even know if Dave Hart was there. I felt like she was being defensive at times and full out looney at others. I am afraid UT would have been better just keeping Hart and Cheek.

Yes and she built him up by saying " he got me a glass a water in a UT cup."

A UT cup huh? Well Chancellor no one will question the hire in the future since we know he had a UT cup in the cabinet.

I wonder if Peyton was thinking WTH did I get involved with?
I just thought Davenport acted very strange. Her comments about Peyton and talking all the UT stuff Currie had, not knowing how was at the press conference. I wonder if she realizes that she screwed up?
And how many times did he bring Fulmer up? Dude you helped fire him and he can not stand you. So shut up.
There was one time that he got half smart mouthed with one of the reporters.
They were so weird that I almost felt sorry for Butch, today. He will probably get fired by these 2.

Good Lord that was awkward.

Currie: The media wasn't even there and no fans were there either to greet me at the airport.
Davenport: They weren't there to greet me either.

Media: The Lady Vols title was taken away, are you going to address that?
Currie: I literally have no idea what you're talking about, I've only been here 70 hours. Now I'm going to randomly talk about rowing.

Pretty innocuous event from what I saw. Not sure why everybody's hyping it as a remake of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. :)

I remember those skits. Pretty sure, it was MadTV. It was played by the little black guy on the show, not Aries Spears, but I can't remember his name, he was in Pulp Fiction and Vincent Vega(Travolta) accidently blew his head off in the car or he shot him in the apartment after he unloaded his clip on him and missed Travolta and Samuel L

#2 on your list is the most unsettling thing to me. these coaches are paid 6 and 7 figure incomes to coach. I didn't see that on his resume so he certainly isn't qualified to micromanage that area even though that doesn't stop mettling micromanagers. Not a lot of things I dislike more than having a boss who has never did my job telling me how to do it. like him or not, CBJ has assembled what looks like a good coaching staff. I hope Curry stays the he** out of the way.

I caught the podium speeches, but not the Q&A. I thought Davenport seemed strange/out of her element as well. The jokes were awkward and she seemed to be very uptight/rambley like she was uncomfortable. His speech was similar. Hopefully, they will both get more comfortable as time goes on.

Lol, thought the same thing last night.

I do believe I read somewhere here, that Butch wasn't happy about this hire. Don't know if it was just speculation or not, or if it really matters. :dunno:

Not an impressive hire imo. People talk power 5 school but what has he done in relation to coaching hires?
