As fans we have zero authority or input into the AD hire. If we did, Bama Dave Hart would not have been hired. Your purpose is to give them your money and verbal support.

Just more lunacy on the hill. They told a HOF VFL coach and a loyal long term UT athletics leader to go eff themselves without finishing a legitimate interview process. They chose the hatchet man that will do their bidding, that they can unceremoniously dump without regret when his usefulness is over. This is not your (or my) father's UT. They have moved on. So to those of you commenting about Blackburn not being classy - you might want to rethink that one because they care even less about any of you as well.

Blackburn was speaking primarily to the UTC supporters in his current role. After having been treated poorly by his school and current system employer.

I don't expect or need them to care about me. My discomfort with what I interpreted as passive aggressiveness on Blackburn's part has nothing to do with how I feel about the UT Administration (which is not particularly positive).

I somehow hurt my neck at crossfit yesterday. It was a steady sharp pain last night but waking up this morning & it's almost unbearable. Can't move it left, right, up, or down.

Any tips at all? Been icing it but not really helping..absolutely miserable. I'm assuming it's just a muscle issue

"Somehow" "crossfit"....

I can't find much to argue with in this post. I do hope that Currie turns out to be great. I will continue to support our programs, regardless, but this one could have been handled so much better than it was.

FEATURED The inside story: Complex picture in Tennessee’s hiring of John Currie
By Jimmy Hyams

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — As rumors fly as to what did or didn’t happen during the Tennessee athletic director’s search, here are a couple of things we have been told.

* Tennessee’s AD search committee did interview John Currie, though not all members of committee were there.

* New UT chancellor Beverly Davenport also interviewed Currie, flying to Kansas to do so.

* Phillip Fulmer moved his scheduled search committee interview from this Friday to this past Sunday.

* Fulmer got a call from a search committee member Monday morning, leading Fulmer to believe he had the job.

* Davenport didn’t want Fulmer because he didn’t have AD experience; she wanted someone with experience from a Power Five Conference.

* The search committee member that pushed for Currie was Jimmy Haslam.

* The search committee recommended Currie to Davenport, although the vote was not unanimous.

* Not all members of the search committee were aware that Currie was instrumental in having Fulmer fired in 2008 and didn’t know Currie and Fulmer have a strained relationship.

* Currie reached out to Fulmer through a phone message but Fulmer has not yet responded.

* One reason Fulmer pushed for the AD job is he didn’t want Currie to get it.

* Fulmer might have been the only candidate interviewed by both the search firm, Turnkey, and the UT search committee. UT Chattanooga AD David Blackburn interviewed with Turnkey the same day as Fulmer but wasn’t interviewed by the UT search committee.

While Currie’s hiring has been praised by some, mostly on the national scene, many closer to UT object to the hiring. Currie had a tenuous relationship with some UT coaches and boosters when he was an assistant athletic director at Tennessee.

I lifted for the first time in about two years on Sunday. Still hobbling around. Just hoping that I can make it a consistent habit from now on. I had a good run of lifting regularly when I was 19-22 or so, then fell out of it. Have had multiple stretches since then where I'll go to the gym religiously for 3-4 months, then skip a week, and then slowly fizzle out.

I was the same way. Partly one of the reasons I started crossfit. The coaches always push me right to my limit. I know if I was in a gym by myself I'd never push myself that hard.

I never leave the gym wondering if I could have worked harder. It's a lot of fun honestly.

I don't really care what Blackburn says as I understand his frustration. I just don't believe its good for his future to make such comments and go on the radio (if that is what he did). He has worked in the business for years, and he would be the first to tell you how political it can be. I just wouldn't jeopardize my future by publicly making comments.

It is what it is. Are we all frustrated at decisions that the administration makes? Sure. But at the end of the day, I will always watch and root for them.

What is beginning to baffle me is why so many are jumping all over Currie's sh** about this. Hating him? Calling him someone's bit**? Why? The dude applied for a job and got it. Why are you so pissed off at him?

Hate the process all you want. Bit** and moan about how you feel Fulmer and Blackburn were treated all you want. But why on god's green earth are you raising so much hell about the guy who wanted a job and got it?

Give the man a ******* chance.

To be honest, it sounds to me like many of you may need to re-evaluate yourselves and consider possibly only being casual UT fans. Buy a ticket here and there, or sit in the comfort of your own home and watch games. Anything beyond that may be just a little too much for you to handle.

My problem isn't with currie. It's that we waited 7 months for one guy to make the full rounds of interviews and one of those entities that interviewed that one guy wasn't even fully aware of his past. One person. How is that fully vetting the candidates when ONE GUY got all three. Are you kidding me?

Yeah I'm with you. I started it a couple months ago after bouncing in and out of the gym for years doing only stuff I liked doing. Got a little stronger, but not much better at anything else. CrossFit attacks my weaknesses and is making me love the uncomfortable.

CrossFit won't hurt you. But pride will. You have to learn to listen to your body.

Yea this is my problem with it also. The last thing I would act like if I had a billion dollars would be a 5 year old.

Who was the one guy?

I agree. The process was stupid, and that is putting it nicely. Many people though, feel it's necessary to take it out on the guy that was hired.

Regardless of what I think of the rest of it...IMO, Currie was a good hire.

On top of everything else. How can anyone, and I mean anyone, think it's a good idea to air all of their grievances out about the way they feel through the media and social media. I keep hearing about how it is all so embarrassing, and how it makes UT look stupid. You know what else is making us look stupid. All the ******* local media and social media whining.

The same people that everyone assumes we're a laughing stock to, because of the way it was handled, are the same people who get to hear and see all the whining that fans and people associated with the program are throwing out there. Doesn't seem to bother anybody that the same recruits/potential recruits and their families along with the rest of the college football world are getting to see first hand the stupidity of not only the local radio/sports stations, but the UT fanbase as well. I guess that little part of it doesn't matter though, as long as everyone gets to say their piece and have their voice heard.

Embarrassing? Yes. It is all quite embarrassing...media and fans included. At this point the only thing about it that is not embarrassing is the guy that was hired as the AD.

This is where I'm headed. Not really because the administration makes me angry though. I'm so worn down with all the negativity. Every single day it's something new.

The exciting basketball team full of freshmen loses a game.... Oh we're soo cursed!!!

It couldn't possibly be that this team is laying a solid foundation for years to come.

Oh my gosh we didn't get the quality control coach that I wanted and the new guy doesn't have quality control experience!!! We're doomed!! Same old Tennessee!!

Blah blah blah on and on. Day after day. Do some of y'all even like sports? I mean. That's all this is. Games. Played by college kids. It's awesome. And can be real fun.

But in case you didn't realize, we're not owed a championship in every sport every year. That's not our God given right as TN fans.

I mean, does all this stressing about every detail and every hire add to your enjoyment of the games? I would ask yourself that. Because there are lots of people making money off your freaked out clicks and that's why weve got this watered down media coverage that never actually tells us anything interesting about the football team I love.

I want to read about the new strength coach and how this talent is developing in the weight room. Something. Is it okay to still root for this team? Or does that make me some type of sellout? Is being a true fan mean we have to carry a pitch fork every day? If so, I'm out.

Sorry for the rant. Just had a lot floating in my head recently I guess. I just want to root for the Vols and hope for the best. To each their own I guess.

Go big orange forever

Amen.

So, Fulmer thought he had the job.

I understand not wanting to give it to him, but how many times must this University disrespect the man who won us a national championship?
