Why are we booming on the Beard hire? It seems good to me (young, South Florida recruiting ties) but he has a thin resume with only a couple years of actual position coaching experience and he comes from FIU. Is it because Larry Scott specifically wanted him (worked together at Miami)?

Yep, actually Welker is not too far off from this and Welker was more successful at the highest level... just saying.

You would have to ask Fulmer that question because anything else is just speculation.

You need to take a BigZiti deep breath man.

I don't care about Fulmer. I was for his firing. We've just screwed up every move since then.

Again, I'm just really disappointed in the process. We never just identify our guy and bring him home. We let situations dictate our every move. Things happen to us. We never happen to things.

Watching those mic'd up videos with Beard and I think he'll be a big improvement over Azzanni. our guys have not had great footwork. Hopefully Beard will help them develop it. Helps when the coach can show you by example!

For those of you that think the real big money boosters didnt have a say in this hire, well, there is nothing I can say that will change your very wrong opinion. By the way, I do know Jack $hit and his brother too. Currie checks all the boxes. Was he somewhat of a compromise candidate, probably so. Let's get behind him and give him a chance to lead this AD. We have upgraded our coaching staff and AD this off season. Now, let's roll Big Orange......

Offseason hires:

Scott vs Debord
Warren vs Martinez
Hoke vs Stripling (changed role)
Wells vs Mahoney
Beard vs Azzani

How to you grade them? I think we upgraded at DB, OL and WR. DL and OC are a tough call for me but feel Scott will also be an elite closer at recruiting.

One thing is obvious. Much better recruiters here! Diversity also improved tremendously. The bald and white jokes can go away now.

I didn't see this in Scott for the 2017 class, but maybe in year two....
We are needing to make up some serious ground in recruiting so it will be interesting to see if these guys can get us back on track.

With the staff Butch has assembled, depending on the recruiting class of 2018, I'm willing to be more patient with him

I do agree he made some good hires in Beard, Hoke, and Warren. Just need butch to stay out of his own way like some others have said. Actually I think this team is going to be a lot different than his other teams he has had. It's almost an entirely new staff it feels like

Exhibit A: Alabama's AD transition.

Exhibit B: our AD transition.

In sum, I understand Ziti's frustration.

Absolutely. I do too. That's why I backed out of following the AD hire a couple of months ago. Too frustrating to watch. I actually agree with a lot of what ziti is saying. We just have a difference of opinion on our feelings about the AD hire and that isn't even completely different.

I like it...he's not sure.

I understand. It's hard to keep looking for the positives when nothing they do seems to make sense.

GFW and even a few in the FF think this is a great hire. Involuntary and others think it's horrible. Basilio acts like it's the death of UT. Has SBV commented yet? Its Gruden all over again- insiders insist our favorite is the front runner, done deal, etc and then when delays start occurring it's "oh that's just to appear like there was a search for the new chancellor" and other excuses, etc and then it's someone hired out of left field. No one but Blackburn or maybe Fulmer would be accepted on here, but I'm willing to give him a chance-at least it's someone with Tennessee ties. In regards to running Fulmer off, I thought GFW said he might come on board now. Info coming from all extremes of opinion.

No, I didn't say it was horrible. I'm not impressed with the hire. I'm more disappointed in how they treated both DB and Coach Fulmer.

I don't know all this so I'm just asking.
Why is Brice on the radio saying that several big boosters had threatened to pull funding from the beginning if they took Currie as a serious candidate?
