A lot of people really excited about this hire, myself included

Looking like Beard may be announced today as well

People forget that our coaches have been pulling double duty with their own jobs and the media. They went over Hart's head with the press conference last summer. That's when I knew he was gone.

Currie is young and experienced. He has worked with Fulmer in the past. He knows Tennessee and what it takes to win here.

So far that's the only knock I see of him. He has only hired 1 coach for a major sport because no one else is saying what hires he made (if any) on the lesser sports.

Depending on personal perspective of good and bad, he lost a proven winner in Frank Martin to USCe. Had given him an extension with $100 K increase annually and he left anyway.

It's like playing cards with my brother's kids in here. I'm sure it's worse in the FF and elsewhere but still. For months now almost all of us have been begging the Admin to hire an AD. Yes we wanted Blackburn and I still think he would have done a great job. Now we have hired an AD and most of us are b******* and moaning because we didn't get the flavor of ice cream that we really wanted. We wanted jamoca almond with a cherry on top but have to settle for coffee with hot fudge walnuts and a cherry. Jeez. Currie has a good resume and is a UT guy. He may bomb but let's at least give him a chance to bomb before we hate him.

Why can't Currie and Blackburn be good Choices? Why is it either / or? Both are Hamilton by-products, both graduated from UT, and both went on to be an applicant that others thought high enough to hire. And why do so many of you fall in love with an AD, backup QB, freshman player and if they don't get the job did has to be that someone is incompetent?

Give it a rest. He has done it at a Power 5 school not a satellite school. So yeah far more qualified. Your name calling is weak sauce. Nothing passive about my posts pal especially when it comes to you.

"Did I stutter" is the epitome of passive aggressive and troll. I was genuinely curious how someone could think he was "far more qualified." Should have remembered who I was talking to.

He is more qualified- not sure that can be debated. Who knows if he is better? I wanted Blackburn. But Currie is a UT guy, knows the school, knows the conference, and has been at a Power 5 school for almost 8 years.

Do you know why?

Martin isn't exactly knows as the cleanest player in the game.

If their fans are celebrating because it means their coaches won't be "handcuffed" in some fashion (read: Currie wouldn't let them openly cheat), then I would guess that was why Martin moved along.

Blackburn was under Phil Fulmer and Doug Dickey far longer than he was under Mike Hamilton.

Just goes to prove Blackburn should have left the UT system and not been loyal to work his way up through the system.

Good post

Does anyone have an answer as to why Currie should do well here? Don't know a ton about him besides the Weber and Snyder hires. Will he be willing to spend the money to attract a top level football coach? Good connections? I'll hang up and listen.

It's ridiculous to think we are now magically a worse Athletic Department now. Imo K-State football and basketball (really the only two sports I watch, and easily the most popular two along with baseball) are at a pretty high level for being K-State. Didn't they make the elite 8 in basketball within the past 3-5 years? I know their football team has been up and down the last few years, but in the last 7-8 years Currie has been there, they've seen some good days.

I know success in single programs isn't all on the AD, but he hasn't royally screwed up and been an above average athletics school at a very average athletics school.
