His power really doesn't have anything to do with subscriptions. He controls rankings and Much more. He can have as many hit pieces written about Jones as he wants. I bet he makes much more money with advertising than he does subs. Hit pieces get clicks which brings in more $ I would assume.

If he loses subscriptions, I think that word also would get out regarding his credibility and that of his writers. He would have no motivation to alter rankings too much one way or the other as there are many competitors who rank players, too. I don't think he is nearly as powerful as you perceive him to be, or as he perceives himself to be.

Morning AD update...

"We have said there would be twists and turns like crazy on this search.

The newest twists out of left field this morning is Kansas State AD John Currie is a legit candidate for the job.

We are tracking and chasing as hard as we can. According to a source in Manhattan, Kansas Currie is in his office right now. But we are chasing this rumor as it is running rampant this morning."

Bruin is right. This guy has the juice.

He's not gonna continuously attack the Vols because of Brice though. That said, if he chose to hurt UT he could.

Sounds to me like he's trying to use Brice as a starting point of getting back in UT's good graces. Maybe I'm wrong.

Smart thing to do would be to mend fences with UT. You can't have a real presence here without subs. Someone has got to pay Callahan and Rucker. Right now 247 is a sinking ship as far as Knoxville goes. Terry will look to fix that and not continue to fire shots like he did with that Haney article.

In related news, John Currie wants a bigger house in Manhattan and an extension on his contract.

Cunningham played us nicely and now other sitting ADs will likely follow suit. It's December 2012 all over again.

Hmmm... maybe he is the compromise candidate. He does have ties to Tennessee and has been an AD in a power 5 conference. I do not think that his resume' is that much stronger than Blackburn's, to be honest.

Whenever I now read about our AD search, all I hear is circus music when they are trying to put up the big top... this is getting to be just a flat joke.
