If nobody else will, I will say it; because she is a female. With all the Title 9 crap, a woman was going to get the nod if all else was equal or even close to equal. All JMO.

I have a strong feeling that played a part in it too. She's still probably no worse than Cheek though.

Then just hire Fulmer and be done with it. At least e loves UT and cares about winning in the football program. I trust that he is smart enough to assemble a great staff and be successful. Just hire him already. This is embarrassing

Embarrassing? Its just a process and it will continue good or bad. Hart is here till summer they know that.

Wait, you mean Twitter isnt filled with people following along and laughing as a school tries to make an administrative hire?

I'll never understand the "embarrassing" thing. It might elicit a slight chuckle from a few non-UT people with nothing better to do, but I would bet the vast, VAST majority don't care in the slightest.

I am embarrassed for us because it's evident we can't get our crap together. Other fanbases aren't paying attention to our AD search so I wouldn't care what they think about it. Doubt many have any thoughts about it.

But being a fan and follower of the program for a couple decades I can see what is happening and I'm saddened and embarrassed by this cluster we are currently in due to our own leadership and lack there of.

According to my source, David does not feel very confident that he's getting the job.

It came across that way. My friend said it was like he was nearly laughing at how they were handling it He repeated what he told Ainge, that he is very happy where he is, but would love the job and knows he can do it. The rest of the call was family stuff and old times.

Even if it were the right thing to hire outside, the way they go about things is so dumb many potential candidates are immediately turned off. There are easier places to work to make the same money in the same occupation.

We had our own problems before we brought her in. My guess is that she will just be another one. Starting to sound that way. She no doubt senses the lack of true leadership and will likely try to make her voice heard.

My point is that she isn't gonna be able to save us from ourselves. She knows jack about sports.

No one can save us from ourselves but I don't understand where the 'she hates and/or knows nothing about sports' thing comes from and you're not the only person to say that recently (hell a few of our more red people were saying that and blaming her for stuff before she ever had a work day). Honestly, there's no reason to believe she doesn't other than pure speculation and tbh, a lot of that has been based solely on the fact that she's a woman which is a completely unfair assumption (not saying that's where you're coming from but a lot of fans have come from the 'ZOMG! She's a wommanz so must hate sports' perspective on this which is just silly.

When she was hired the word from our more trustworthy beat writers was the opposite of the meme that has suddenly taken hold. They've all said she understands the culture and fan expectations here better than her predecessor and better than anyone we've had in her position for quite some time. She also has professional experience with big time sports and rabid fans and balancing that with the role of looking after the university as a whole from working at the University of Michigan. And culturally, she's from Kentucky so it's not like SEC sports and the expectation we have is a foreign concept to her.

I just think people are panicking right now and want to blame someone but blaming the new guy/gal is ludicrous given UT's problems and how far they go back.

The vast majority of this narrative was driven by "insiders" claiming that a replacement was going to be hired in December. Since the current AD remains in the job as we speak, we are not even filling a vacancy, we are in the process of filling as expected vacancy. The chancellor is doing her job. Let it happen, then judge the result when there actually is a result.

We should've listened to Hyams on this. He kept saying we wouldn't make a hire so soon. I thought/hoped we would've done so much sooner but the university and the committee that's in charge of this doesn't appear to be in that big of a hurry.

That's cause I got better stuff to do. Had nothing to do with your weak post. I actually saw that post for the first time this afternoon. Hence me also seeing this post right now and responding to it.

I just say what I think about the sport and keep it moving. I'll leave the petty personal attacks to people like you.

You're sweet Shirley.

What kind of people would I be? Are you as smart in this area as you claim to be in football? Give me your breakdown of me. 1st round draft pick? Undrafted Free Agent? Somewhere in between? Not on the board at all? How do I stack up against other posters? Others who "personally attack" you vs those who feed your ego for instance.

Was I not just saying what I thought about your opinion? Is it not ok for me to have an opinion about your opinion? It was when I called you a "young schmuck" wasn't it? Was I too tough on you?

I own two companies and a small business. I am also a College Director and Professor. I do all this while being married and raising two small children. It's called multi-tasking. What pray tell takes up all of your time?

A college professor? You have to be a history professor, right? Or business?

Lol....nope. Although I always thought I would love to be a history teacher...not professor. Would have loved to have taught High School/maybe Junior High History, back when they actually taught history.

Electrical Engineering.

We don't need a Vol, that kind of shortsightedness leads to bad decisions. We need a proven, successful AD with a lot of experience running an athletic program. If that person is a Vol, great. If not who cares? How many top programs have an alum as their AD?

I think now, for our fan's and supporter's sake, we actually do need a Vol. Our fanbase is becoming more and more fractured and we need someone that the fans will rally behind. I know that fans do not typically rally behind an AD, but in this case, we need someone with a vision that loves Tennessee. I am sure that there are plenty of competent candidates who have experience who would work their tales off while they are here, but I don't think that is what our university needs.

Never fear...our local media will lead the lambasting parade for everyone else who is not paying attention.

It's depressing how true that statement is and what's worse is that when they pile on it does get picked up by others and becomes embarrassing (e.g. We want players with five star talents AND five star hearts becomes five star hearts).

That said, an AD search is probably a bit too boring for that but you never know with our media.

If you're so smart, just think of how dumb it is to get into personal arguments online. Regardless of your job, marital status, living situation.

I get tired of all the little BS beefs you people have with each other. Yeah, D4H is a bit 'out there', but my eyes can't unroll when I see such an upstanding, tax-paying, church-going, Disneyland ticket-buying, multiple business-owning father, husband, and educator calling out some twit for not answering him on an internet forum. Gimme a break, the way you describe yourself, you should be winning a Nobel prize.

I don't care about all of us getting along. I just don't want to have to read through personal BS like this. Keep it to UT related stuff, please.

Electrical Engineering.

That was my original major. Then, I had Circuits class. The next quarter, I switched on over to the College of Communications :)

I agree. They will eventually answer our concerns with their choice and we can react accordingly. This is one time they cannot claim they did not know, the local media has been openly vocal about who it should be from both their and the fan base's perspective. If one of the two VFL's gets it they will receive the support. No guarantees on anybody else.

They fall all over themselves trying to appear "objective" and end up biting the hand that feeds them. Twitter can be a blessing and a curse, for sure.
