Screw them Screw them all!

My impersonation of CBJ as I relate to those on the hill.

Seriously, they better win this year and that's more on those idiots in the AD than on Jones IMO. They are so stupid in the admin. It makes me want to spend my money elsewhere instead of giving it to them to be morons all the time.

Well folks. After having missed a few days on here with the flu/stomach bug that was going around, I think I may have been back a day. You may or may not have noticed that I once again was missing for several days again (a week?). I don't recall for sure this time.

I just returned home after having been laid up in the hospital. They were basically rearranging my insides, back to the way they are supposed to be I guess. My round with the flu apparently had undone a previous surgery (from years ago) that was performed after a run-in years ago with a friendly little device left by a road by some fine folks who apparently disapprove of America.

I was told to be on bed rest for the next week and take it easy for another week after that. They don't know me very well. I plan to be back to work by Monday, Wednesday at the latest. Damn lazy civilian mentality. You can't get anything done laying on your ass waiting for things to fix themselves.

Sounds like a may have missed a few things in my absence. We need a new WR coach apparently. I'll try to catch up on the rest as I go, but be patient if I ask something or make a statement about something that may or may not be true any longer. I've skipped many pages in many threads to catch up to today.

Speak your opinions folks, rebut others opinions folks. But most of all enjoy your freedom. I just spent many days being reminded that the price paid for it does not end just because you come home.

:hi:

So, when you talked about your insides getting twisted out with the stomach bug, you were being literal. :eek:hmy:

Glad you're better now.

I like Blackburn but unfortunately, I said in the beginning that he was too easy of a pick for them to make the correct call.

Been narrowing down my second choice ever since.

When he and Fulmer started talking and doing interviews, it truly became a no win situation and perhaps instead of dividing UT even more the thought is that anot outside candidate would be less divisive. We'll see...

This is the correct attitude we should take about the AD and all of their decisions because they could care less what the fans think other than will the money keep flowing from Neyland attendance and concessions/gear sales.

It would likely take years for us to really know that. Meanwhile if another SEC/Power 5 program scoops up Blackburn in the near future everyone would lose their minds.

Maybe. There is still no evidence Blackburn will be successful like 99% of people think.

For the record, I prefer Blackburn over anyone but everyone thinking he is a "slam dunk" based off 2 years at UTC (because, like you said, it would take years to know) is jumping to conclusions too fast.

Very well could be the case.
I liked the thought of both of them, with Blackburn being the actual AD because of experience. I know Phil does well with fundraising etc.. and assume that would be a benefit. But some of the blind hate I have seen for the man since this started, even surprised me a little.
I knew many decided it was time for him to go, I did not realize how many wanted a human sacrifice from him. Like I said, I prefer Blackburn and I think most are ok with both of them, as long as it's in that order. But some are just have a near psychotic hate or love.

Who did Hyams and Hubbs say would likely be considered for AD if Blackburn is no longer in the mix? I hate this admin. Easiest hire ever and they are making it so difficult.

Ill just be glad when they hire someone it is becoming too CNN.

I mostly want to know due to my own impatience. Don't guess it really changes anything if it takes him a week or two more months.

I do really wish they just hadn't announced though. There would be no radio interviews or media coverage.
And no impatience from me, if I didn't even realize it was happening.

Nothing is 100% certain but DB has done an amazing job at UTC. Great coaching hires. Great fundraising. He knows the right people both in TN and around the country. He has worked at all levels of various AD's. He has a myriad of qualifications. To my knowledge he has never been fired from a job. If anyone is likely to be 99% successful, I'd say it is David Blackburn.

I think the reason I'm impatient about it is that I'm almost certain they're gonna screw it up.

This.

I hope not, there just comes a point where "WTF" isn't even enough.

I do wish Blackburn had not done the interviews though. I don't care what job you're interviewing for, letting the bosses know ahead of time "I'm not anyone's do-boy", isn't the best selling point.

Don't get me wrong, as a fan, I loved it. But I still know it's not great pre-interview chitchat.

Edit because my phone hates me and I'm too lazy to proofread

Nobody wants Fulmer over Blackburn. There's no divided fanbase. Fans want Blackburn.

Only our boosters are divided on that issue. They are selfish idiots.

Fair enough. However, I do think some percentage of fans want Fulmer if only because his name is more recognized.

Because they are starting to look more outside the family.

And he was at Cinci with this chancellor lady we've hired.

Yes, they are, and they have been. With that said and from what I understand, Blackburn is still a strong candidate.

I guess I just don't see where the Cinci AD worries are coming from other than just because the chancellor is from there as well.

Listen to Hubbs segment on sportstalk yesterday. Sounding more and more like Blackburn isn't a candidate.

Fear is the main driving force of why I'm talking about the Cinci AD. But his name is in the mix it sounds like.

Thanks to everyone for the regards yesterday.

Yes Kristy*, as it turns out, I I guess I was being literal. I just didn't know it at the time.

YorkVol...I did call and offer to go in to work this morning. All I got back as a response from my boss was..."You're kidding right?". I take that to mean, no?

I apologize to all who had to deal with Sarge in my absence. I thought I had locked his cage before I left...my bad.

The AD at Colorado was a mess when Mike Bohn was there. Now it wasn't entirely his doing (problems at CU went back further than his tenure), but little was done to make it better. And if you're worried about hiring coaches on the cheap, he hired Jon Embree, who was an NFL tight ends coach, to be head coach and was paying him under a million dollars. It was bad enough that the commissioner of the PAC 12 told CU they needed to get in gear and start paying coaches at a rate commensurate with the rest of the conference.

Embree ended up getting fired after only two years, Bohn was allowed to hire his replacement, and then he was forced out. And Boulder doesn't even really care about football, so you can imagine it had gotten pretty awful.
